1906 winchester pump - The Firearms Forum

I have a .22 winchester pump model 1906 in factory new condition.
maybe a box of 22s were fired thru it and the stock and bluing is as new!
what do you think it is worth?

R U sure it hasn't been reblued and the wood refinished?

OK......here's what the Blue Book says:

"Model 1906:

90% - $800
80% - $600
70% - $500

This model is seldom encountered in over 90% original condition - original mint specimens can top $2,000."

it is really nice- it is original, all original and probably in 95% or better

I have never seen one in the outstanding condition described. It is highly unlikely that the original finish was so perfectly preserved, especially considering that rifles like this were subjected to a lot of hard use and abuse. However, if it is truly in minty condition you could almost write your own ticket.

I SAW THIS RIFLE IN THE GUN SHOP ON 3RD AND LABREA IN LOS ANGELES, CA,
IN AS I RECALL, 1952, THIS GUNSHOP WAS OWNED BY YHE NOW FAMOUS HY HUNTER.
THE 22 WAS HUNG ON THE WALL AND WAS IN NEW CONDITION.
I ASKED HIM IF HE WANTED TO SELL IT. HE SAID "NO!"
I WAS LOOKING AT OTHER GUNS WHEN A CUSTOMER CAME IN WITH A LUGER PISTOL THAT HE DIDNT KNOW HOW TO TAKE APART, I SHOWED HIM HOW TO DO IT AND HE BOUGHT SOME AMMO FOR THE GUN, I GUESS MR. HUNTER WAS APPRECIATIVE OF ME HELPING HIM OUT AND THEN HE ASKED ME IF I STILL WANTED TO BUY THE NEW PUMP 22.
I SAID YES AND HE LET ME HAVE IT FOR A FAIR PRICE.
I TESTED IT TO SEE IF IT WORKED O.K. AND IT DID. I FIRED ABOUT 10 ROUNDS THRU IT.
IT IS STILL LIKE NEW!

Sounds like you've got a real prize there. Most of our 1906 Winchesters were purchased new by our Great-Grandfathers, handed down to our Grandfathers, then our Fathers, and if we're fortunate enough to be in line, to us.

Along the way most of them got plenty of use, and some were left leaning against a tree overnight, or in the rain. Many rode along on the wagon, then the tractor, or lived in the barn. Or worse yet served active duty in a carnival's shooting gallery.

It's indeed rare to come across such a fine sample.

Thanks for sharing, some pictures would be great if you're so inclined!

Hello! This is my first post. I was looking for information on my old rifle and found this post. I have a first issue (per the Winchester historian I called) serial number 2095 shorts only, takedown pump. I have owned it for 35 years and as a kid shot it often. Two separate gun dealers have told me it's 80% plus. I would like to sell it. It does not look nearly as nice as the one in the pictures, but I'm told the right person would pay up to 2000 for it. I would take far less and was told not to take any less than 700. I can get very good pictures from any angle if anyone is seriously interested. I'm an honest person and it's an honest gun. Mechanically very little wear and beautiful brown/wood color and patina. Drop me an E-mail if interested. Thank you
