Today my brother and I went to the range to fire my new ruger 357 mag single action revolver and my savage 300 wsm rifle . Boy it was so cool my brother and I will be bruised tomorrow from the rifle fire and I did'nt get a pad for it yet but that'll change tomorrow . The rifle kicked but it was worth it . Everyone at the range was shooting 9mm so we stole the show with the 357 but we really got they're attention when we started shooting the savage 300 wsm . Now my brother wants a 357 sig auto so I'm asking is it comparable to the 357 mag ? Just thought I'd ask ya'll our birthday is coming up . All replies welcome

The 357 sig is a viable round but in no way compares to the real .357 mag round. The revolver round has much more options for bullet weights, powder charges and just plain more fun to tinker with a 357 revolver than it is an auto....in my opinion anyway. Actually, i've been toying with the idea of a 45 long colt for a while now...
Not one of those single actions, just a regular revolver.I'm a little confused... 300 wsm makes your shoulder hurt? Try shooting a 50cal some afternoon if you get the chance sometime. You'll love that..... mike gn |

Thanks mike yeah my brother wants a 50 cal. desert eagle handgun I can only imagine what that'll do . My shoulder does bug me a little but not as bad as I originally thought it would . Actually down the road I was thinking of getting a 50 cal. muzzeloader but not yet . Now my 357 revolver has my full attention it reminds me of my grandfathers old revolver I really like it I miss granddad he was cool .

The Desert Eagle is a gas port operated gun so it ain't to bad. As far as the .357 sig it is a good caliber but the ammo is exspensive and harder to find than 9mm .40S&W 45ACP and so on.

hpmcbroom, consider reloading for your arms, in your off hours.
Even if you can buy your ammo, at your employer's cost, mine's cheaper. Cast bullets, recycled brass, and cannister powder, put the .357 at about a dime, or less, a round, which is pretty cheap. Look at a Dillon progressive reloading press, for often used calibers. While the 'buy in ' is higher than a single stage press, the volume and durability will offset that, quickly, if you shoot much. Mine has produced over half a million rounds of pistol and rifle ammo, without a hitch! Just finished a run of 400 rds of .45-70, while watching "The World's Fastest Indian", and I had more movie, than brass, if that gives you a clue. Happy Holidays.
