Also, what is Model 10-4, S&W .38 special worth with a 4" bull barrel and stainless finish with a little wear. Thanks AntiqueDr *TFF Senior Staff* Posts: 3337 (2/10/03 9:11:23 am) Reply | Edit | Del Re: Marlin 39A & Model 10 S&W value -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Depends on the age of the 39A. Serial number (and condition) would help. The Model 10-4 was never offered as 'stainless finish.' The stainless steel version of the Military & Police is the Model 64... A little more information on each and we'll be glad to help! fredarmory Member Posts: 8 (2/10/03 10:35:14 am) Reply | Edit | Del Re: Marlin 39A & Model 10 S&W value -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I can find info on the S&W . Tell me what numbers you can find when you swing the cylinder out (inside flats on frame and crane). And exactly how it is worded on the left side of barrel. JDZDEG Member Posts: 2 (2/10/03 9:19:11 pm) Reply | Edit | Del Numbers on .38 Special -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MOD 10-6 is located on the frame. Numbers 98578 is located on the crane. The wording on the left side is as follows: 38 S&W Special CTG. Smith & Wesson is on the right side. Thanks for the help ! JDZDEG Member Posts: 3 (2/10/03 9:24:01 pm) Reply | Edit | Del Marlin 39A -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The finish is blue with a little surface rust above the lever. It has a round barrel and rear adjustable sight. I will have to get back with you on the serial number because my Uncle currently has it. Thanks Again AntiqueDr *TFF Senior Staff* Posts: 3347 (2/17/03 9:15:54 pm) Reply | Edit | Del Re: Marlin 39A -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RE the S&W. The serial number is located on the butt of the gun (possibly under the grips). The number inside the crane cutout is not the serial number. The Model 10 was never offered in stainless, but was offered in nickel for a time. Sounds like somebody has refinished this gun. Value as a shooter is $150-$200. Assuming the 39A is relatively recent, $200-$250 is reasonable if good condition.
