Indeed, azsigman. That is precisely the process Churchill himself went through over the course of his political career. Prior to WWI, he was a member of the British Liberal Party. He switched over to the Conservative Party just prior to the war, but still retained strong ties with the Liberals and was instrumental in forming the coalitian government that ruled Britain during that war. He remained a Conservative thereafter and was, of course, a member of that party during WWII.

I apologize for being so late to this, ah, party. An old friend has been in town and we've had some catching up to do. So let me dive right in...
On the original topic: Yes, the Communist party has more than a few ideals in common with the Democrat party. It hasn't always been that way. In fact, none other than John F. Kennedy was a strong anti-communist. But that was the early 1960's, and by the late 1960's the Haight-Ashbury contingent took over the party. Little wonder then that for the 2004 election, the Communist Party of America did not run a candidate, but instead threw their support to "whoever could defeat George W. Bush". Were they throwing their support behind Ralph Nader? Nah. Obviously, they decided not to split the Leftist vote and threw their support to the DNC candidate, whats-his-name. What Huck will not admit to (at least not in front of this crowd) is that the Democrat party, the Communist party, the Socialist World Workers party and the Green party are all just different shades of the color Left. In fact, you'll be hard pressed to find any Democrat who will admit that, no matter the facts presented. If you do manage to corner one, they will likely try to tie the GOP to the KKK, which is ironic considering how the KKK has historically been the intertwined with old Southern Democrats. But I digress. Unfortunately, the CPA is not the only anti-American group that sounds a lot like the modern liberal, Leftist, Democrat activists. Want me to paint a picture? Okay... ![]() So there it is. Now I'm fightin' dirty. On the subject of the recent election that Huck is (again) trying to rub in our faces: While Huck and other diehard DNC fans think they won the election, the truth is that the Republicans lost the election. How? The same way the Democrats lost the 1994 election (by a much larger margin than they "won" 2004): By losing touch with their voters and by getting more familiar with spending and corruption. Both parties want to spend money, the difference lies in where the money goes. Democrats want to strangle free enterprise, empower state enterprise, throw money away on welfare recipients who wouldn't know how to manage two pennies if you gave them a free instructional video (Oh wait, the Democrats call that "investing", ha!), throw more money at teacher's unions (for the children, of course), and throw money away on Global Climate Change research before the next volcano erupts and exposes their scheme. Republicans, by and large, don't think Iraq is a waste of money. Unless we're going to continue handicapping the troops with political correctness and the political favors for Iraqi officials. Now the "Bridge to Nowhere" in Alaska and the prescription drug entitlement program were prime examples of wasting money. I'm sure Huck will provide more, so I'll wait and respond to that. Huck said on page 2: Quote:
The founding fathers believed in equal opportunity. Period. Otherwise, they would've created the kind of oppressive, restrictive, regulated (micro-managed is more like it) system devoid of choices that the Communists/Socialists/Democrats would like to see us straddled with. Of course, don't expect the C/S/D's to ever actually live under such a system. No, they'll be above it in order to rule it, much like Castro and the old Czars. True elitism. Conservatives and Republicans actually want to live under the system they create. Is that enough, or would y'all like some more?

Nice! You go Hawk! How about Hillary just recently saying that she wanted to take the profits from the oil companies and spend it on ways to make America less Dependant on oil. Why don't she start her own company, make big profits and do it with her own money! Maybe she can invest another 10K in the cattle futures and turn that into another 100K like she has in the past and spend that money on her energy plan? Don't get me wrong, I am all for seeking out other ways for energy but lets not steel the money!
How about we let the free market do it. Someone will come up with a way to run your car on cat poop and we will all be happy. (might have to wear a mask when driving )

White hawk said,
"What Huck will not admit to (at least not in front of this crowd) is that the Democrat party, the Communist party, the Socialist World Workers party and the Green party are all just different shades of the color Left." Well, he's wrong, I will admit that the Democratic Party and the Communist Party are just different shades of the color Left. Much like the Republican Party and the Westboro Baptist Church are different shades of the color Right. Communism & Socialism are the extreme ends of left wing beliefs just like the Westboro Baptists and Right Wing Militias are the extreme ends of Right Wing beliefs. I'm a Democrat, NOT a Communist. You Republicans are always giving lip service to "Support the Troops". Well buddy, I fought the Communists in Viet Nam. I was a Democrat before I went in, I was a Democrat when I was In Country and I'm a Democrat NOW. So please take your Communist loving B.S. and try selling it to someone else, because as a Vet, you are way off base calling me a Commie. As of right now, I'm done defending the DNC against charges of being part of the Communist Party. If that's what helps you sleep at night, then have at it. Trying to change some people minds is like trying to teach a pig to sing, it's a waste of my time and it annoys the pig.

And thank you for fighting the Communists in Viet Nam. I've got one uncle who did two tours on the ground, and another who did one in the air, and several friends who served in country as well. One even goes back to this day to build orphanages. They're all better men than I. Good night, Huck.

Huck if you read all of what White Hawk said you will see that the dem party of the early 60's was not the party you came home to. The far left dems have taken over. Loyalty is wonderful but at some point you have to ask yourself why do I support a party that does so many things that I am against? Gun control should be high on that list since your posting here. Also support for the troops should be also. You can't tell me that all the negative comments from the leftist media and the lefty dems does not hurt the moral of our military.
I'm sure there are many dems like you who were JFK dems but guess what that party is dead.

I heard the tale end of an interview on the radio about the Democrat Party in the 50's. I wish I had heard the full interview.
The person being interviewed had written a book about the struggle in the early 50's for control of the Democrat party. Some wanted to pull the party to the far left, and there was some hint of communist and socialist involvement. Others wanted to go a more moderate direction. In the end the moderates won out. Today I see a similar battle. I think the average rank and file Democrat is moderate. But under the "big Democrat tent" you have some strong leftist leaders such as Senators Ted Kennedy, John Kerry and out right clowns such as Al Sharpton, and Congressman Dennis Kucinich. The Democrat party of 2007 is not John Kennedy's Democrat party of 1961!

). I still remember, as a boy of 13, watching Kennedy live on TV as he delivered his famous and chilling line in October 1962: "Third: It shall be the policy of this Nation to regard any nuclear missile launched from Cuba against any nation in the Western Hemisphere as an attack by the Soviet Union on the United States, requiring a full retaliatory response upon the Soviet Union." The man had values and guts.

I understand that JFK was also quite friendly with Angie Dickinson. I read that, when she was asked what it was like to sleep with JFK, she responded. " Oh, it was great. Best 20 seconds of my life."
