It took a bit longer than I had planned, but then I had not planned on having to buy a new pickup, either.

Pietta New Navy .44 cal. Purty, ain't it?

Snow mixed with freezing rain here, so first firing will have to wait for awhile.

I don't have a cannon, so don't have any Fg (anymore.) I do have some FFFg and some FFg, but have discovered the difference between the two. FFg makes the stump come out of the ground. FFFg makes the stump sprout wings.

I've had it out twice, now. No targets to show off, yet, as I was shooting clay pigeons. Took me less time to clean off the powder residue than #3 son's drool.

Pops, what charge weight are you using for it, at least so far?

I used 25 grains with a wad and round ball the first time, but the ball would just barely compress the powder with the rammer. I then switched to 30 grains and feel a bit more comfortable with that.

I just got my LEE mold for the conicals and will get to those pretty soon. All I have to do is find that durn round toit.
