It took a bit longer than I had planned, but then I had not planned on having to buy a new pickup, either.
Pietta New Navy .44 cal. Purty, ain't it? ![]() ![]() Snow mixed with freezing rain here, so first firing will have to wait for awhile. Pops

Congrats, Pops. Be sure to give us a report when you do fire it.

I've had it out twice, now. No targets to show off, yet, as I was shooting clay pigeons. Took me less time to clean off the powder residue than #3 son's drool.

I used 25 grains with a wad and round ball the first time, but the ball would just barely compress the powder with the rammer. I then switched to 30 grains and feel a bit more comfortable with that.
I just got my LEE mold for the conicals and will get to those pretty soon. All I have to do is find that durn round toit. Pops |
