This is a cheap Balisong that I have had forever... Maybe someday I'll replace it with a good Benchmade Morpho or similar, but this one has sung many songs without a hitch.

It is made by Gerber and named after Colonel Rex Applegate... Crpdeth

I just may purchase one of those knives looks impressive, I dont care for sheaths for a knife that small and would much prefer clipping it inside my pocket like i always do, i have seen pictures and video of this knife without a clip on the back hand of the knife and ive seen some with the clip... Does the knife come with it as an attachment? If not how the hell do i know im ordering one with the clip?? :::SHRUGS:::

W.E. Fairbaine was a teacher for the military in hand to hand combat. One of his students was Rex Applegate. Fairbaine taught men who fought WW1, and Korea. Applegate taught thru Korea and Viet Nam. Both were way ahead of their time in hand to hand combat, and much of what they taught is still taught to our troupes. Rex Applegate designed this knife and Gerber made it. Applegate put Fairbaine's name on it to honor him. I own one, and love it! I believe that Gerber is selling these knives for around $90 (suggested retail is $180) at this time. That's the info that I have, and if I am wrong on any part please correct me, anyone. Google either name!

Agreed Delta, it is pricey and like you say, the cheap ones work for now.
![]() Carver, thanks for the info, sounds like I had it half right, as usual. Crpdeth

Davison that is a fantastic looking knife, looks very sturdy, have a link or website? I agree with Delta on the Balisongs being very good stress relievers, mine has very heavy stainless handles that tend to give my knuckles a beating after a good session however LOL. I like the Benchmade WeeHawk, if i am remembering correctly.http://www.knifecenter.com/knifecent...mages/bm42.jpg

Here's one you don't see too often. It's a Victorinox "Mauser" Swiss Army Knife. It was retired in the mid 1980's.

I found one of the becker knives for $100, here is the site for ya, but it has a serration and no rope around the handle. And it's made by Ka-Bar.
