The Violence Policy Center

Kristen Rand, Of Counsel

Headquarters: 1300 N-St., N.W.

Washington, DC 20005-

http://www.vpc.org

The Violence Policy Center is the new name of the New Right Watch (NRW), a non-profit group that researched what it perceived as a new right-wing American political movement. NRW focused its attack on semi-automatic firearms with two releases: Assault Weapons and Accessories in America (1988), a joint effort with EFEHV, and Assault Weapons: Analysis, New Research, and Legislation (1989). Funding for New Right Watch was received from individual and foundation grants.

VPC is a non-profit national "educational" foundation that proposes firearms restrictions, including total handgun prohibition, as measures to reduce violence in America. VPC's Executive Director, Josh Sugarmann, formerly the Executive Director of the New Right Watch and, previously, with the National Coalition to Ban Handguns, authored a book attacking the NRA NRA: Money, Firepower, and Fear (1992). In 1997, VPC produced a report attacking NRA's Eddie Eagle program, calling it Joe Camel with feathers. This attack was so scurrilous that many in the media denounced it. It stands as clear evidence that VPC is more interested in attacking the NRA than in finding any rational or effective solutions to violence in America.

The California Wellness Foundation is a private foundation funded in February, 1992, by a substantial endowment from Health Net, one of California's largest health maintenance organizations (HMO). Through grants the Foundation funds research and public action targeted at "public health" issues. This includes grants for anti-gun research, community and governmental action, and policy advocacy. This foundation is one of the primary funding sources for state and local anti-gun causes.

While all the organizations listed in this section, are already listed elsewhere here. It may not be apparent, at first glance, just who, or how many of these, there are. Thus, while compiling this list. I happened to notice a pattern beginning to emerge, and decided to test my hypothesis. This is the list, which resulted from that test. See my additional personal observation, at the bottom. [rf].

In my opinion, it would appear, that the conservative, Religious Right, Republican, sector of the nations leadership. Is no more in favor of the 2nd Amendment, or an Individual Right to a Self-defense, than the, left leaning, socialistic, Democrats. Perhaps it is time, to start looking at, thinking about, and voting for the Libertarian Partys candidates.

I would also add some of the words of Jesus on this subject, as it seems they have been mis-represented by our religious leaders, for all too long now:

Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I am come not to send peace, but a sword. - Jesus, in Matthew 10:34, the Holy Trinity Version, Catholic Bible (1951), and the King James Version.

But now, let him who has a purse take it, and likewise a wallet; and let him who hath no sword, let him sell his tunic and buy one. - Jesus, in Luke 22:36, the Holy Trinity Version, Catholic Bible (1951), and the King James Version. [rf].

Default Re: I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY TOOK MY GUNS PART 2

For YEARS the fear-mongers have shouted that the Democrats will take our guns. As you stated , it appears that the Republicans are leading the way . Mrs. James Brady who was pivitol in the formation of h.g inc worked to pass legislation that is now known as " The Brady Bill ". Dont get me wrong , I am Not bashing the Reps. any more than the Dems.

Just a note on the St Louis Rams ownership, Georgia Frontiere died a few years back.
Her son Chip Rosenbloom is now the majority owner but intends to sell.
