Everyone should own a .22 pistol.
They are quiet, hardly any kick, many are very reliable and you can practice all day long at low cost when compared to centerfires. I really enjoy shooting .22 pistols while my centerfires are for home defense. |

Another Browning HP in 9mm. Hope to find an Belgium at a reasonable price. My first one purchased NIB in 1970 was $108.50. Probably have to pay $600 now. Wonderful gun.

Danwin22 - I'm not sure about 22 pistols being quiet. My Ruger Single Six will make my ears ring all day without hearing protection.
I do agree that EVERYONE should own a 22 pistol of some sort. Crazy fun to shoot. |

E-Rez, while I agree that a 22 can be quite loud with a sharp bark. A revolver will generally be louder than a pistol in the same caliber.
The pistol directs the exploding gases (and therefore sound) away from the shooter, a revolver's cylinder gap releases gases closer to the shooter and does not project these gases foward. This is why attaching a compensator to a pistol or porting a revolver makes it louder.

E-Rez,
Sorry, I meant to say a .22 is quieter than larger bore pistols. I used to go out and shoot my Ruger Single Six .22 Magnum and my Super Single Six in .22 and both with 5-1/2" barrels, along with my Ruger flattop .357 with the 3-5/8" barrel. That .357 was a lot louder than my .22's. My Ruger Mk-II and High-Standard .22 Autos are fairly quiet but I do wear ear muffs on the inside range as there is a lot more echo and other guys firing big bores next to me. |

Well, I have been vacilating for a couple months on what to buy, for a pocket gun. I carry a Ruger 2.25", SP101, .357, all day every day. I shoot it well, in DA.
I do not want a .380. Too small! I have been looking at .38 specials in j-frame size. I really like the Ruger LCR. It has the best trigger of all I have tried. And it's the lightest. I have handled the LCR, the S&W hammerless J-frames and the Taurus hammerless model 85's. The LCR is ugly. The Smith J-frames have a better trigger than the Taurus 85's. But the Taurus alloy 85's are nice little revolvers. And so........I can't decide. OTOH, my DSW Sharon has a Keltec PF9, 9mm, that is really nice. It's light. The trigger is not Bad...but, it's different. It fits in my jeans pocket as easily as a little revolver. I think I'm going to end up buying a a couple, of different kinds. I'd like a Walther PPK/S for my next handgun. Small, slim, stylish. Only thing it would lack is stopping power. But it won't be for awhile. I already own one gun my parents don't want me to have. I am saving for my own place first, too. Then I can have as many guns as I want.
Only one I have been able to find around here was at Gander Mountain for $599.99 and it was stainless. Would prefer a blued one.

I'm heading over tomorrow with some trading material to buy an LCR. I will look to carry in a belly band type holster for walking and pocket at other times.

I just bought a Kahr CW 40 so I don't need a handgun anytime soon. I would like to get a bolt action rifle for deer season. I would love a pre '64 Winchester model 70, but with my money, I will end up a Savage 110.

I'm buying a Phoenix 22.
I have been using a friends and it has been totally reliable for plinking. ![]() For less than $150 it doesn't get much cheaper to shoot or own. I have already been told its crap so don't bother. Over 500 rds later no problems from his. I also own a Glock, Sig and Beretta so I don't need to buy better IMO. |

Just bought a Kahr CW9
I dont get it for about 20 days though. Shipping will take about 10 days, and the CA 'cooling off' period takes another 10. |

Springfield loaded 1911 in blackened stainless. I am looking for a good deal on one. I've been debating on which 1911 to buy and I think it has come down to the Springfield.

Don't you guys dare laugh. My next pistol will be either a CZ82 or a Bersa Thunder. I need a small pistol to use as backup to my Blackhawk .357. Been looking at the Undercover .38spl for the wife but she once owned a Diamondback so it is hard to find something that she likes.

Hey Gator,
I have a friend (ex career cop) who loves his SW 22 auto. They're inexpensive but great shooters. |

I want to try and get my hands on a World War 2 issue RR or Colt M1911A1. I've always wanted one but could never afford it.
There's nothing like the feeling of holding a pistol that was previously carried by a US soldier. |
