My wonderful wife decided that my next gun would be a S&W M&P 9c. So she bought one for me but I suspect that she covets it and it will be hers soon.
I had a weird experience while buying it and an OLD TOWN canoe at Bass Pro Shops. I had driven out back to the loading area and got the canoe in the bed of my Tundra. After I got it tied down good I started to climb down from the bed when all of a sudden this huge Kaboom came out of nowhere. Sounded louder than my .50 AE Desert Eagle. It startled me to the point that I fell out of the bed and landed on my keester. I didnt know what the h had happened. After making sure my wife and my keester were ok I looked around to see what had happened. A couple of guys from Bass Pro came running out and asked what the h?? Parked about 20' away from my truck was another Tundra. In the bed of the truck was a shredded cardboard box full of oil and grease and such. A gallon jug of oil was sitting on top of the toolbox. Big dent in the toolbox. What had happened was a can of compressed air or freon that you attach to an air horn had heated up in the sun and went KB! I found the bottom of the can and what was left of the can and set them on top of the bed rail so that whoever owned the truck would see them. Anyways, I got a nice gun and a nice canoe and a really nice bruise on my hind end. Alls well that ends well, cept my end isnt well.![]()

I saw my next gun on the cover of the July issue of American Rifleman. I am and always have been a big fan of the old TV show Wanted-Dead or Alive. Actually I am a big fan of that sawed off rifle that Josh Randall carried. My next "hand"gun will be the Rossi Ranch Hand!!

Although I think I'll wait and see if they come out with about a 9 inch barrel and a little shorter stock like the original TV show one, and in .44-40. The eagle squadron bounty hunter special looks good, but not $3,000 plus good. I don't think it will replace my 1911 as a carry gun though. ![]() Here's an interesting article from 1961...a little amusing, but interesting. http://www.mcqueenonline.com/gunsquarterlyarticle.htm

BountyHunter,
Puma has their own version chambered in .44-40, made for them in Italy by Chiappa. Interestingly enough... they call theirs the Bounty Hunter. A little more pricey than the Rossi... but not quite as bad as the eagle squadron you spoke of.

I'm still searching for a Glock 20 (10mm) 1st or 2nd series, hopefully in Olive Drab Green.
If not that, I think the new Calico Liberty II Tactical pistol...9mm fun ![]() ![]() "When you absolutely, positively have to kill every MF'er in the room...accept no substitutes!!" Legal everywhere BUT Kalifarkinfornia, New Jerky, New Yuk, and Illandead.

definitely going to be a very large caliber. i love shooting guns and i bought a judge because i wanted something with a significant amount of kick. the judge doesnt do it for me even with hot reloads. im thinking a 500 S&W might do it for me. have not decided whether i want the long or short version. or perhaps a taurus raging bull .454 casull. those will knock your dick in the dirt so im told. never fired a .454 before.

I am thinking about a .45 auto of some sort (not sure what style yet) or a .327 magnum SP101 for concealed carry. Also thinking about a Ruger Single Six convertible since I don't have a .22 handgun.

Well, I am afraid that I lied about my next gun, but not on purpose. I stopped by my local gun shop on the way to work this afternoon (actually Saturday afternoon) and while I was there a guy traded in a couple of lever action .357 rifles. One was a Marlin but I don't remember the model and the other one was a Winchester Model 1894 Trapper. Since I didn't have time to do the paperwork, I asked the shop owner to hold the Winchester until Monday for me so I will pick it up then. Giving him $325 for it, don't know if it is a good deal or not but I just liked it when I saw it!! I need to stay out of there, it seems to cost me every time I visit.

In answer to your question I would just like to say I'd love to see ammo return to affordable prices again. I'd love to buy my favorite Model 29 Smith but I can't afford to shoot what I already have. I have noticed that even the gun club I belong to isn't as busy as usually for this same reason. $32.99 for a brick of 500 .22 rimfire is shameless. What happened to 3 cents a shot for .22 rimfire? I know reloading saves but come on, $32.99 for 500 rounds of .22? I've heard it was Obama, then scrap metal prices, then primer shortages, then hording by people, then powder factories burning down, what gives?

reloading is your friend. in times like these when ammo is so god awful expensive you can still reload ammo for hundreds of dollars less than you would pay for it anywhere else. ive been reloading for 6 months now and all the money i initially sank into the press and dies and all that jazz is just a drop in the bucket compared to how much money i have saved. ive bought a couple hundred jacketed bullets and loaded them for SD and hunting and i cast all the rest. casting your bullets is what will really save you money.

As I have for the past five years, trying to find and make mine, a Colt Python that I can afford. Realistically though, it'll probably be a Colt U.S. Army Model 1917. Waiting for the right one. After that I'll go after the S&W (surprise!) .45 Hand Ejector U.S. Army Model 1917.

Got the single action pistol. Next will be either SAXD compact or Springfield 1911. After that, it will be the one I didn't get. .45 is my cal.
May eventually buy a Beretta 9mm. Maybe. Maybe somebody can help me decide on that one, or not. What's good?

I already have enough 9mm. Taurus PT111 Millenium Pro, Slim 709, Keltec PF9. Man I really love the Slim. PF9 is not fun to shoot but good and accurate but kicks like a mule.
The PT111 has those crazy straight 8 sites and as blind as I am, I not to good with it! If I could get another it would be, probably be something in the 45 Cal range, BG's are becoming better equipped these days, so need something more ability than the 9mm! Would love to have the Smith & Wesson 44 Mag but I can't swing $700 without having to leave home. LOL! The wife packs the PF9 (easy fit in her purse) so I will wait to get another when the Boss says it's OK. I don't want her to say, "Now I know what you are thinking, was that 6 shots or Five?" Take Care yall!

I have already placed an order for my next handgun and I am waiting for it to show up at my firearms dealer. I ordered it from Buds Gun Shop and the price was pretty good. It is the 6th firearm I have bought off of them and I am very happy with their prices and service.
It is a 357 SIG and it is outfitted with a Sig Saur P239. It is coming with night sites and an extra magazine. I really like the 357 SIG caliber. I already have a Glock 32C chambered for it. 45 Auto and 45 Colt are my 2 favorite calibers. I think the 357 SIG is in a tie with my 44 Magnums. Any ways, my new gun should be ready to be picked up tomorrow or the next day. |

My next gun purchase is going to be a recreation of a gun Ed McGivern took ownership of from Colt in 1937. It was a Colt SAA, 5 1/2" barrel, blue and CCH chambered in 357 Magnum. It was shipped with 2pc. ivory grips that bore silver medallions. The back strap will be engraved "Edward McGivern 1874-1957". I cant help it I'm a romantic.
