Default Air Dryer, or paper towels?

Timeless questions....paper or plastic...left or right... Air Dryer or Papertowels?? Personally, i prefer paper towels. Yes i know...people are slobs and they often don't hit the trash can with those used paper towels and as a result it can make for a messy bathroom...but i HATE those air dryers. If you really want your hands to be completely dry you have to push the stinking button twice...or maybe even 3 times to get your hands dried all the way. Even worse is when the heating element is burnt out and you only get cold air.... Yuck.

So thats the question.... Air dryer or paper towels? It'll be interresting to see the results of this survey, i think anyways...

Paper towels, it's the only way to go.

I said paper towels, but as with anything, there are conditions. I like the air-dryers that are touch free or motion activated since there's no dirty button to push. Same goes for the towel dispensers of that kind. For getting dry quickly towels are the way to go and in really scuzzy restrooms you can use the towel to grab the handle and open the door. However, I hate it when the washroom attendant is lazy and just lays a fresh roll on the counter instead of refilling the dispenser. God knows what that thing is soaking up just sitting there, never mind all the grubby hands touching it while trying to tear some off. I'm not a "clean freak" or anything, I just don't like certain things, like when things meant to be used in cleaning up make me dirtier than I was when I started. In some cases, I wipe my hands on the leg of my jeans and walk away rather than touch anything in the restroom. My ideal public bathroom has an automatic door, self-flushing toilets and urinals, automatic faucets and auotmatic paper towel dispensers, so that I don't have to touch anything but my own zipper. As you can see I've put WAY too much thought into this but that's what comes of spending several semesters in notoiously filthy university bars and their restrooms.

Paper towels! Actually, I prefer the finest linen hand towels presented to me by a pretty young "thang" with a nice smile. Paper is so plebeian.

In public, It's got to be Paper! Bunny made some good points. When I finish w/ the paper towel, I use it to grab the door handle. ( coz Lord knows what bugs are hiding on the door handle! )

I too have thought like you! I have found only a handful of places around here with (No touch bathrooms) one of the casinos I frequent has them.
Why go through the trouble of having automatic toilets, automatic faucets and have to touch something other than the paper towel to dry your hands and then touch the door that thousands touch??

I too like paper. But, I work in a shopping mall that uses the motion activated dryers. One of the main reasons.... people put the paper towels in the toilet. Some of the ladies use them to line the seat (we do not have toilet seat liners). Second reason is the budget. Much more cost effective with the dryers between the cost of the paper towels and trash). By the way, we have 7 sets of restrooms in our mall.

Paper under usual circumstances, but I, too, prefer a good linen towel.....

Some of the wannabe upscale restaurants stack paper towels in a fancy box resting on the vanity. I don't like that at all. Water runs off your hands and on to the stack..yech! and you wind up grabbing too many and they fall all over the place..ridiculous way to do it, if you ask me.

I own a KOA campground and have just begun replacing all of my paper towel dispensers with air hand dryers. In case y'all didn't know, commercial paper towels made for dispensers cost $27.00 for 4 rolls no larger than standard home use paper towels. About once a month, I have somebody that forgets their bath towel and uses paper towels to dry off with after taking a shower. The expense alone is enough to piss me off, but then the idiots flush all those paper towels down the toilet to cover up their inconsiderate behavior. 9 times out of 10 that leads to a sewage pipe blockage. That really makes me smile.

I use paper....but actually prefer to use paper first....then use the air dryer. I also use my elbow to push the paper dispenser lever and then use the towel to protect my clean hands from the gross door handle!

The air dryers have a sign that says they save trees from being used for paper towels. In this area electricity is generated from coal and trees are a renewable resource important to the economy. I am surprised someone has not made a little sticker to put on the dryers saying, "use the trees, I'll grow more"!

I'll take paper towels any day for a much more thorough and quicker job. They remove that extra bit more dirt that just doesn't come off with soap & water alone. Kinda like that's why washcloths are so darn handy.
