I have a 1884 Patent trap door Springfield that I am trying to find records on. It has the serial # of 481xxx so that places it as manufactured in April - June 1890. I have been scouring the web for a military look up reference to find out when & where it was issued but I seem to be going in cyberspace circles. Any help you can give me would be much appreciated.

Hi sixthwisconsin.....welcome to TFF.
The only website that I know of that used to have that kind of info was the Springfield Research Service: http://armscollectors.com/srs.htm .....but that website seems to be out of service now. The only thing I can think of is to contact John Spangler or Marc Wade from the Arms Collector Website and see if they have any suggestions as to where you can find the info you want..... Website: http://armscollectors.com/ Email: http://armscollectors.com/email/ It's a real bummer that the SRS is closed down.....it sure was a valuable resource. Good luck.....XR |

Xracer,
Thanks for the response... I was on the srs site and was going in circles. All searches point to them so I didn't know what else to do. I'll try the other sites. |
