Default Inherited a pair of WTF .22's, help???

I recently inherited a collection of rifles that contains a pair of .22's that I can't find any info on anywhere. Any info/assistance would be greatly appreciated.

If I should post this in different forum please let me know

#1 is a military (I think) rifle with no model number. Barrel stamping is:
G.F.Mossberg & Sons, Inc.
New Haven, Conn. U.S.A.
44 U.S. 22 L.R.
U.S. Property

#2 is a sweet little single shot. Stamping near the bolt says "Modele 1912 Brevete SGDG". Along the barrel it reads "Belgium The Improved New Century Rifle"

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Your first rifle is a Mossberg model 44 U.S. as you show. It was sold by CMP a few years ago and is a fine shooting rifle.

The second rifle, I have no idea on.

From Google ...

We recently learned that "Brevete S.D.G.D" in french indicates a patent, registered without guarantee of the government. Lars Brandow emailed us also explaining that he believes the companys name is Chaigneau as it is stated at the top of the emblem in one of the pictures below. This is a french single wheel trailer built in Suresnes near Paris by Chaigneau.

So, would have guessed a wheel gun??? But, no.

Acronym Definition
SGDG Sans Garantie du Gouvernement

Seems the Gov't did not guaranteed the patent on this one!

A SWAG ... Pieper ancien établissement

It acts of the rifle 22 C model 1912 - BAYARD of Anciens établissements PIEPER Street of Bayard in Liege.

Thanks for the info! The picture looks just like the Belgian rifle and someone else actually got me a link for the Mossy that has lots of info.

I think that they'll both go to a gunsmith (along with the rest of the pile) for a good cleaning and inspection before I try to fire anything.

Thanks again for the assistance!!!

Thanks for the welcome, Xracer, great site here. I'll be popping around to a few of the other areas since I'm basically a newbie and the inherited "collection" includes 7 different .22's, a pair of shotguns, a pair of higher caliber rifles, and a pair of percussion guns.

As for hanging onto the Mossy, I'm under strict orders from the DW to keep all of them.
