Post Are Savage Model 12 Barrela interchangeable?

I've heard that the barrels on the Savage Model 12's are interchangeable. I have a Savage Model 12FLV 22-250 short action. I know Savage has the .223, .22-250Rem,.204Ruger,.243,.25-06Rem,.300Win,.300WSM and the .308 for the Model 12. Which ones are the short action. I would think the .300Win is a long action. Which one would be best for deer hunting?

Also, can someone tell me what it would cost for a barrel?

The short action works with every thing you list, ect., 25/06 and 300 win. mag. Price for a barrel kinds depentds on what you are willing to spend....$200 on up. For deer hunting, how far do you want to shoot, and how much recoil do you like...should probably stay away from the .22's, 243win is a minimum, JMHO. Best reguards Kirk
