Default S&W model 37 .38

My wife has a five shot S&W mod 37 with the original box and paperwork.
We also have a Victory model .38 from WW II. It was carried by a British army officer during the invasion of Anzio. Can you tell us the value and can ammo still be found for the Victory as .38 specials are too large.

Thank you.

The Victory revolver was chambered for the .38-200 cartridge, also known as the .380 Revolver Mk IIz. Ammo for these revolvers is now pretty much in the collector's category, Sky.

I am not the sharpest knife in the draw but isn't the Victory model chambered for or will safely shoot the standard 38 S&W cartridge not Special but 38S&W wich is an outside heeled bullet ? Remington still produces that round.

38 S&W R38SW 146 grain LEAD RN where the Brits used a 200 grain lead RN

OK skydog....here's what the Blue Book says:

Model 37 Chiefs Special Airweight:

98% - $350
95% - $250
90% - $210
80% - $190

Victory Model (Lend-Lease mfg. Caliber .38 S&W)

98% - $600
95% - $500
90% - $450
80% - $400
70% - $350
60% - $325

Both PS and 358 winchester are correct. The proprietary British cartridge for the British Victory revolvers was the .38/200....but this was just the standard .38 Smith & Wesson cartridge with a heavier bullet.

Your "Victory" takes the .38 S&W cartridge (NOT .38 Special), which you should be able to find at any gunshop.

Thank you all for the information. I want to shoot this weapon as I know it has not been fired since WW II. Of course I will have it checked out first.
