Default Winchester Model 60

Can anyone tell what kind of wood was used on the Model 60, It sure does not look like Walnut! -Cliff, Should have written Winchester Model 60-

It might be gumwood. It was common for Winchester to use gumwood on earlier carbine rifles in the 1890's, but most of the latter ones used walnut.

I think Rocketman is correct but by the time the model 60 came along I believe only walnut was used by the factory.

Thanks, this rifle was made in 1930 and the wood on it it is very light,like birch. Cliff
