McCall area has around 6-7 feet of snow in the area with BIG drifts. Most areas impassable by snowmobiles even.

Afternoon Berto, Thanks for checking on us poor folks here in the mountains. Pleased to say that things are going great. I will loose part of the North side of the Greenhouse as the snow has slid off the South side of the house and the North side of the Greenhouse so much that the bank there is over eight feet deep and now there is no place for the snow to slide. Oh well. I built it and I can rebuild it.Not a problem,we are having a great winter here for a change. Yea the governor has issued a "disaster proclamation for our area." That's because he doesn't understand that when things get like this the dang townie's don't come out here and we have the entire area for ourselves. Hell I ain't been shot at for so long I might forget how to duck,Disaster?? Not even close.Engine quitting at 200 feet in a really bad area,now that could be disastrous,hells bells this is just snow. I got my snowmobile stuck going up a friends driveway to check on his wife as he is working out of state and our phones were out for three days then on for one and back off for about five more. Only took me three times getting stuck and having to stomp out a way to turn it around and head back downhill before I made it to her house,Now this is only a 1000 foot driveway but dang the drifts were over seven feet deep. But I got there and gave her the mail and visited for a while. The wife and I told her that she could stay with us for a few days until this blows over but she is hard headed and is still in her house. Nice lady,very independent! Looks like we are going to be blessed with some more snow for the next five to six days but in six months people will be griping about the drought. I am still on the right side of the grass so I sure as heck am not going to gripe. I shoveled the snow off the roof of the Chicken House today and boy am I sore right now, wasn't that hard to do in 1968! How is your weather? Hope it is not to bad. Take care. At 7:28 am the Groundhog did not see his shadow.......so we have six more weeks of Winter.

Just been getting an inch or two at a time and then it will melt a little bit. Just enough melt tp make my back yard into a hockey rink. I fell on the ice yesterday and busted my butt. Other than that it's just cold.

The roads are clear & deiced but it's cold.

Did I mention that it's cold down here? Well it is.

It's snowing here right now, but the prognosticators said there was only a 10% chance. I guess 90% of what's falling right now in big fluffy flakes is just my imagination.

It has been 20 percenting here most of the day. It has also been above freezing until about an hour ago, so it's agunna be nasty on the roads in the morning. Light fluffy snow on top of ice ain't my idea of fun.

Afternoon there my Missouri friend, Nice to hear that your still up to standards and griping at the neighbors and such,well I guess you are as your still on the right side of the grass. Wouldn't be you if you wasn't giving someone heck would you. You mentioned I sounded as happy as a pig in slop. Man that pig ain't got anything on me. Remember back in the late sixties when we were told what to do and when to do it? Well now days the only one I am really subservient to is my lovely bride and she takes pity on me quite often and lets me hunt and fish as much as we can afford. She is a very great lady and a dang fine cook amongst other items, I am indeed a very fortunate person. I read articles from guys like you and Pistol, Berto and IPT and I realize that fate really smiled at me years ago when my uncle who was a career Army individual convinced me to try to join the Air Force instead of joining the Army. Am I happy,Hell yes man,very happy,now I could complain about the amount of snow, the blowing winds that have made seven to nine foot drifts. I could gripe about a lot of things, I chose to look at the other side of the coin so to speak. If it is something I can change,then I get to it and change it if I don't like the way things are. Should I not be able to change it I find a way to make the best way to have the best of a bad situation. Whether you and most of the guys who have been some of the fine places that I have and even to where you guys that were in the real s^#t went,you guys have got on with life and made the most of it,well so do I. My life is and has been up and down at times, I don't now and never will have much money. I truly don't believe that many with a lot of money are as happy nor as satisfied as I am today.I truly salute you guys who were in the mud and looking at things I only watched from the sky, man I am absolutely blessed. besides that I am alive to give you a ration of crap,which by the way you richly deserve, oh yea IPT I will eventually come up with something appropriate bout the "Men's Department" Humph, yea right. Have fun down there in tick country and in about three months we will be having Deer,Elk and bear in our back yard. I will again start shooting them with my camera and sharing the pictures here on the web. Started snowing about 5:30 pm and I've got a couple of inches on the ground. I think it's gonna be off & on all night.

Hmmph, and you guys say I live in the Great White North. I was out in shirt-sleeves today digging drainage ditches so that may parents' driveway wouldn't wash away with all the runoff. We're having a weird winter, freezing temps, snow and snowmobiling one week with enough of the white stuff to make hunting without rackets(snow-shoes) impossible, next week it's five to eight degrees above freezing, raining and just plain messy. I'd like to have temps about ten under freezing about three to four inches of snow every three days and NO RAIN. That'd make for perfect hunting in my neck of the woods.

Well Bunny, you could always relocate up to Ellesmere Island. I heard the temp stays kinda chilly up there.

Good morning all, The somewhat snowbound catfish from beautiful White North Idaho. Now we almost always have a measurable amount of snow in the winter,but here the last seven years nature has been playing with us a little bit. Last winter we barely had 18 inches of snow on the ground. I only got to play on my snowmobile twice here in the yard. Now this winter that is all changed. Here are some pictures I took yesterday in and around my yard just to let you know that although my initials may be BS the snowfall is real and did I mention DEEP?The second picture is of the Chicken House and it had fifty nine inches on top of it,now it had slid of before it started to just stick to the roof. The last picture is of the North window in my den,you can see the ridge marks of the steel roof where the snow slid off the roof. Now folks the inside walls are eight feet and the outside is about nine feet from the ground,our East and West end windows are built so that should an emergency happen we can still escape through them. Yes Al I can get my fat butt through a four by four window thank you.We are having a respite from the snow today but are scheduled for about six to eight inches tomorrow (Tuesday the 5th) and then another good snowfall on Wednesday of another six to twelve inches. Gonna be blessed with a little more snow. Then the problems may start,we are scheduled for 40 degree weather on Saturday with a possibility of rain. Don't mind the forty degrees (would prefer say 36 to 38) I just hope for the flatlanders sake that we skip the rain with it as it causes the snow to melt to dang quickly. Then we have flooding problems. Hey Berto how is it doing down South? Are you out of that dang ice yet? I hate Ice. Talk to you folks later. Yup, Donny, that stuff is called "snow." We get a little of that in Colorado too, but not like Catfish is getting in Idaho this year. You must travel north out of Texas to encounter it though. I hear the legislators up Austin way passed a law against it in Texas.

Well I guess that we are going to be blessed with a little more snow. We are under a winter storm warning from 10:00 A.M until 10:00 P.M. The weather guesser is calling for from 6 to 12 inches more snow in my area today and more tomorrow. Then we get 40+ temperatures and maybe rain. I personally will not be hurt by the rain but there may be real serious flooding in the valleys. We will wait and see,huh maybe its my fault for praying for a good winter. I just will forget to tell people that its my fault. Later catfish

I heard that forecast this AM and was not happy to hear it.

With all the reservoirs full a fast snowmelt will be really bad, the spring thaw will be bad enough but we don't need one now.

Thank goodness I'm on the high side of the Snake. Hopefully I can stay dry.
