The stock is walnut and has very nice lines. Does anyone know if the receiver sight is available anywhere? How about a replacement magazine? Any sights have info on these beautiful rifles? Thanks. Gun Parts Corp had the mags. last I checked. Item # A85-142 @ $16.60. The receiver sight is a different story... We Buy Guns! 1 - 100, Antique or Modern! www.apaxenterprises.com

I have a Savage Sporter 23AA which also just has the patent date of Nov. 20, 1917. The number etched just behind the bolt is 139184. It is a six round rifle (one in the chamber) and five in the clip. I really don't know how old it is but it still shoots real well.

Smoking Guns....
Try these guys, I found a replacement trigger gaurd for an old Springfield model #3... http://www.e-gunparts.com/ On their home page click on the "S", it'll take you to all the models from Savage, Stevens, and Springfield Arms, and if a part is a cross over to another model it'll tell you.... Good luck in your search.....
