Thanks for all the explanations..but I too had seen wilborns before it too disappeared. If any of you took offense at my deleteing the whole schmeer, pleas accept my apologies---I had posted the following version and then Grunt followed up with the sad, but 'true' version. My intentions were to just to have it as if it hadn't happened. It's kinda like excitement being caused when that was the very last thing you wanted. Enjoy the read--I did. wilborn sends.WORTH READING!! In a supermarket, Kurtis the stock boy, was busily working when a new voice came over the asking for a carry out at check register 4. Kurtis was almost finished, and wanted to get some fresh air, and decided to answer the call. As he approached the check-out stand a distant smile caught his eye, the new check out girl was beautiful. She was an older woman (maybe 26, and he was only 22) and he fell in love. Later that day, after his shift was over, he waited by the punch clock to find out her name. She came into the break room, smiled softly at him, took her card and punched out, then left. He looked at her card, BRENDA. He walked out only to see her start walking up the road. Next day, he waited outside as she left the supermarket, and offered her a ride home. He looked harmless enough, and she accepted. When he dropped her off, he asked if maybe he could see her again, outside of work. She simply said it wasn't possible. He pressed and she explained she had two children and she couldn't afford a baby-sitter, so he offered to pay for the baby-sitter. Reluctantly she accepted his offer for a date for the following Saturday. That Saturday night he arrived at her door only to have her tell him that she was unable to go with him. The baby-sitter had called and canceled. To which Kurtis simply said, "Well, lets take the kids with us." She tried to explain that taking the children was not an option, but again not taking no for an answer, he pressed. Finally Brenda, brought him inside to meet her children. She had an older daughter who was just as cute as a bug, Kurtis thought, then Brenda brought out her son, in a wheelchair. He was born a paraplegic with downs syndrome. Kurtis asked Brenda, "I still don't understand why the kids can't come with us?" Brenda was amazed. Most men would run away from a woman with two kids, especially if one had disabilities. Just like her first husband and father of her children did. That evening Kurtis and Brenda loaded up the kids, went to dinner and the movies. When her son needed anything Kurtis would take care of him. When he needed to us the rest room, he picked him up out of his chair, took him, brought him back. The kids loved Kurtis. At the end of the evening, Brenda knew this was the man she was going to marry and spend the rest of her life with. A year later, they were married and Kurtis adopted both of her children. Since then they have added two more kids. So what happened to the stock boy and check out girl? Well, Mr. & Mrs. Kurt Warner, now live in St. Louis, where he is employed by the St. Louis Rams and plays quarterback. And he will be in the Super Bowl Sunday. GRUNT V.I.P. The Price Of Freedom Is Written On The Wall Tac401 Administrator Posts: 1734 (2/4/02 2:59:04 pm) Reply Re: What Happened to the "Good Reading" thread? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- First of all, EZ sets the rules as far as who can delete and who cannot and EZ has it set that one MUST be a Mod in order to have the delete feature therefore, ONLY staff members of a site will have this feature and if staff aren't "Loyal", trustworthy and picked very carefully then by having this delete feature they would be able to delete every topic in every forum at the site thus wiping out the entire sites contents which did happen to 25% of this site awhile ago and it will NEVER happen again! Chief probably deleted the thread because someone had informed him that the story was untrue, I can and will say that there is noone with more integrity, well meaning and kind hearted as Chief, this is a man who doesn't have an unkind word to say to anyone, is always there if someone needs his help and would give the shirt off of his back to a complete stranger! Also, we noticed that you are a member of another site of which some of it's members have been known to harrass this board, and we also noticed a comment you made at their site where you seemed to be in favor of them stopping the harrassment at that time and we sincerely appreciate it and hope that you still feel this way, we have no problem with what sites any of our members visit either! We knew about the other sites where some former staff have been harrassing this board from and have known since the first day they opened them, and that a few current(now former)staff members that thought they had us fooled and and that it was a big laugh, but they were not fooling any of us, and I'm sure the Vets here will appreciate knowing this and further more, one more spook/troll/trouble maker that shows up to this site to make trouble will not only feel the legal effects and local ISP effects but will also see for themselves how EZ handles these types of situations and will also find out just who else they are dealing with! Hope this sets things straight, the last paragraph isn't really directed towards you, it's there for our members to be informed of what the real situation is and also for the former disgruntled staff mentioned above who make it a point to continue to lurk here looking for more trouble! Hope you understand our position, we appreciate your membership! Thanks, Tac The Firearms Forum Vietnam Memories Bulletin Board Contact Administrator GRUNT V.I.P. Member Posts: 151 (2/4/02 4:16:47 pm) Reply Re: What Happened to the "Good Reading" thread? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My biggest gripe is that some posts are wiped out if there is any sign of disagreement, also that when a post is deleted in it's entirety, it makes the following posts look rather foolish. I have had this happen several times on this board. As far as finding out something isn't true after posting, it would serve the members better by leaving both versions posted so they won't forward the false story if they happen to see it elsewhere. A simple "thank you" like was given the previous time that I debunked a wonderful story would go further in building trust of the remaining and new members. And you're quite welcome on my posting about Trolls. I don't believe in the principal of trolling..if you don't like a site or are unwelcome (which I feel is fast becoming my case) then don't go to that site. I am not an ass kisser, but a person who sits back and tries to take in the whole picture based on information at my disposal. While being a member of several veterans boards and a Moderator of two and an Admin of a Hunting site, I still take the time to give input to the ones "I" feel worthy. That is one reason I don't like the deletions of threads or posts here. If the subject leads to a good clean and civil debate, then it is still a worthy thread. As I stated previously, I will no longer correct any stprys that I find untrue as it seems to be a waste of time. I will however send an Admin a corrected version. Don't delete this as it is the longest post I've made anywhere. The first being that we don't delete posts here or at TFF just because of difference of opinion, both sites have always had a policy to agree to disagree however, we do not allow personal attacks on anyone, troll posts, spam, etc., in those cases a delete or edit will take place and in cases where we know that a person is a former troll who has returned to cause additional harrassment and or if we know that they are affiliated with former trolls and came to take their turn in line, which has been the case over the past couple of months or so. In cases of heated debates between members that may get out of hand as far as foul obscene language, personal attacks etc., we usually will edit the post and place a note inside of it telling them to please keep it civil which in the few cases we've had here seems to work and most are understanding and do comply and only if they don't do we delete or ban if it becomes persistent. I do agree with you in general though that when non offensive normal posts/replies are deleted that it does kinda confuse the rest of the thread and can be a little bewildering to say the least and it does serve the members best to leave it up wether true or false and we normally do but sometimes mistakes happen that are of good intent, this same scenario happened recently where one of these posts(possibly the one we are speaking of)was posted here and at TFF and to my knowledge the last I looked it was still up at TFF as far as I know, we do go over all of the threads when they reach the 20th page in order to archive the quality, informative and just plain good threads and we delete the older non-important posts that have 1, 2 or very few replies in order to make space available because as I'm sure you know, once they reach the 20th page the EZ server automatically starts deleting the threads on it's own and we don't want to loose the good ones. I don't know why you feel that you are getting the impression that you aren't welcome here because unless you know something that I don't, that is simply not the case at all, in fact you are very welcome here and at TFF and personally I have enjoyed your postings and hope you enjoy being here. Please do feel free to place a corrective reply if you or anyone else for that matter has the correct info, oh and don't worry, we would never delete this or any of your posts for no reason, and yes you are right I think this is your longest post and I think that rates archive material lol! It's been a pleasure as always to speak with you and as I want all of our members to know, feel free to email me anytime for whatever concerns or reasons you may ever have if you wish!
