f 4 u vrs p 51
my favorte ww11 air craft are the p 51 and the f 4u. did our military ever do test dog fights with these planes to see which plane was better. in europe the mustang was top dog. in the pacific no plane out performed the f 4u. maybe a p 38 under some conditions could beat a f 4u.i know the hell cat had a fantastic record, but it is UGLEY

I used to love to see the F4Us on a napalm or strafing mission.
IMHO they are beautiful. I like the inverted gull wings...
