Hi Rick....

Keep checking back. Our resident expert on Iver Johnsons, Bill Goforth (he literally wrote the book on em: http://www.gunshowbooks.com/cgi-bin/...5&sid=9X4vr2zN ), should be along shortly to tell you all you'd like to know about your IJ.

this model is commonally called the ring trigger model. official name is iver johnson automatic ejector gun or semi-hammerless automatic ejector gun. the model name depends on the year of the caralog. this model was offered as early as 1895 and as late as 1908. this model is a very collectible early iver johnson single barrel as it features one of the earliest known 'self adjusting barrel lock'. it was however manufactured before iver johnson made the switch to smokeless powder and therefore should be considered as a black powder only model.

this shotgun is based on a patent issued to O.F. Mossberg and assigned to iver johnson's arms & cycle works. patent number 697516, applied for on november 4, 1898 and issude on april 15, 1902.
