Hi FuZe7.....welcome to TFF.
![]() According to this article (http://www.whog.org/ppk/historypt2.htm): " Finish was high polish blue during the thirties and early stages of World War II, trending toward a milled, rougher finish nearer the end of the War. Models were also finished in nickel, chrome and ultra chrome (verchromt), a type of silver parkerized finished. Engraved models were finished in blue, silver and gold." I don't have a Walther serial #/manufacture date list, but your PPK was made before April 1940, when the "crown over N" proof was replaced by an "Eagle over N" proof. |

Someone over at http://p38forums/ in the ppk section might be able to assist. Provide any and all markings, caliber, etc.

My references show that your PPK was indeed manufactured in 1939. That was the last year they used the crown over N proof. In 1940 it changed to an eagle over N. If the chrome plate is original it makes your pistol rare and highly collectible. However it was quite common at the end of the war for GIs to have their captured pistols plated, and that destroys most of the value. Maybe with some excellent clear close up photos we could tell if the plating on yours is original.

Hello,
I love Walthers and have a large collection of them.Your pistol was manufactured in 1935 as my data book shows. It looks like a pretty decent pistol and if you were to put it on one of the gun auctions it should fetch at least a grand. The bottom ext mag is selling for 350 alone.Hope this info helps some? Regards Danny ![]() PS: I was looking at the pistol's picture that you posted. If you can post a pic of your pistol I can give you more details. However yours was made in 1935.The other gents were correct when they looked at the serial number on the picture. Mr Whippet,
The pistol was made in 1935.I have been collecting for thirty years and have a data base from researching and advice from Dieter M in Europe.I do not mean to be impolite, but I would put up my whole collection on the facts. Kindest Regards, Danny PS: I have one close to his serial number.I also have one of the first RZM PPK's made in 34.Its SN is 804xxx. Last edited by Danny; 05-15-2008 at 11:23 PM.. |

Hello Danny( or anyone who can help),
I read your posts and I was hoping that you could also help me with determining a value on a pistol. My uncle fought in WWII and was able to take an officer's PPK home with him. It is complete with a note from his commanding officer that allowed him to do so. He has passed away and my aunt wants it to remain in the family, but is willing to sell it to one of her nephews for the current market price. This pistol looks to be a nickel plated waffenfabrik walther zella mehlis thur, ppk, 7.65 m/m with the serial number of 799686. It is complete with a clip, leather holster and documentation. It is in good shape, (not excellent) and has a "crown over N" marking on it. Can anyone give us an idea of what it is worth? Thanks, LJ |

Need pictures, clear ones. If there are no other markings on it ,it is a commercial PPK. German officers did not carry nickle plated firearms. Nickle plating was a special order item, but they are very rare. this is why the pictures are needed. Most nickle { and all the chrome} plated Walthers I've seen were plated after the war. If this is the case the value drops to half.
