Default Military look 22 cal. rifles

I'm looking for a military look rifle (ar-15,mp-40,ak-47 etc.) that shoots 22 lr ammo. I saw a guy at the range firing one that looked like a Ar-15 but I didn't get the name of the manufacturer. You would think that with the price of ammo many companys would make then. Thanks. Kurt

There was one built in Italy called the Armi Jaeger AP-74, Fritz. It closely resembles an AR-15. I don't know they are sill available stateside.

I have seen a very nice .22 cal. MP5 clone called the GSG-5. Very cool with lots of accessories.

I think the companies called German Sports Guns. I have no idea if it's available in the US.

There's a kit for the AR-15/M-16 and, I think, AK-47 to make 'em into .22lr, but I can't remember the name. It's always in the Shotgun News magazine ads.

Like this?

There are a lot of 'military style' .22s out there. You can get some custom stocks for Ruger 10/22's that make them look almost identical to the real thing as well. From MG-42's to Steyr AUGs.

Johnathan Arthur Ciener produces a .22 conversion for the AR-15 and several more rifles and pistols. Perhaps that's what you saw at the range.

While not a clone of anything, the FEATHER is made in the USA and looks very tactical. It IS available for California sales if equipt with the less than 10 round magazine. It is nicely made and shoots well, at least mine does. Stripped down models are not all that expensive but start adding accessories and it gets up there quick! I do like mine and i could not resist adding accessories.

I bought a Ruger 10/22 last winter and put a Dragonov style camo stock on it and I think it looks great.

Real easy to do, just alittle dremal tool action to make the mag come out easier.

Hi
Whilst not a copy of any partiicular military weapon, I have just got a Wather G22. With the Bullpup design it looks more like a military style than a traditional hunting rifle, it also seems to be made to a very hi quality.

Cheers

Bushmaster actually makes a .22lr that has alot of the same features and mechanical workings of an AR-15. It isn't cheap though, MSRP is 780 USD.

Hi,
I have an Armi Jager AP84 which looks like a Galil. Ive been trying to get info on magazines but everything comes up short. I notice in the pics of the AR15 Jager copy that the mags look similar to mine. Does anybody know if the other models mags fit mine?
Any help on this would be gratefully received and to the helper, come to England and beer will flow!!!!!
Thanks.
Mark

My TAC-SOL AR-22 is a better shooter then one would think. It sits on a DPMS lower and with 25 round magazines it is a hoot to shoot.

There is an ak47 looking rifle in 22lr the AKM22. I really like the way mine shoots and now that they are making 25 round mags for it I enjoy it all the more.

In the earley ninetys a co. called Mitchell Arms were importing about 5 versions of military 22's. I bought a AK 47. Its sure fun to shoot. I think they even imported a 22 carbine semi auto and a 22 magnum bolt action also. I dont know if they are still in business or not.

Same AR-22 with different fore-arm, by-pod, and a 3x9x42 scope.

The rifles were made by Armi Jager-Loano Italy-models included the AP-74 in .22 and .32ACP-Ap-80 (AK-47 clone) in .22LR and .22WMR magnum and the AP-84 (Galil clone) in .22 and .22WMR magnum-The company appears to have closed down in the 1990's and rifles and parts are scarce-I have bought a few parts from Numrich and a few on *********-magazines were available from Ammoclip at one time-I have converted my two AP-74's to M16A2 stock and handguard-You will see rifles and parts on ********* and Auctionarms and Gunsamerica-I hope this helps-If any questions call 843-669-3059 evenings-I'll try to help

I did something totally different.

I put my Ruger 10/22 into a TAPCO T-6 Stock that I modified. I didn't like the looks or shape of the forend on the TAPCO T-6 Stock so after a bunch of measuring and cutting I fastened a DPMS Aluminum Carbine Length Free Float Tube to what I had left of the TAPCO Forend.

I also shortened and crowned the factory barrel to 17" (removing the front sight in the process).

In addition to Chamfering / Radiusing the rear of the Bolt I also did the Auto Bolt Modification. I also polished EVERYTHING inside of the trigger group to make a super crisp trigger pull.

This is fast becoming my go to .22 Rifle. There is just something about the ergonomics of this little rifle that makes it feel great in the hands.

Lastly I used a Power Custom Scope Base along with Yankee Hill Machine 1/2" Scope Risers with Weaver 1" High Extension Scope Rings to mount my old 3x9x32mm AO Simmons 10/22T Rifle Scope so the scope is the same height above the stock as on my Bushmaster AR-15.

Lots of options out there for a military style .22. Only your imagination and check book are the limiting factors.
