Cleaning out the shed again. Last year I found four old CMP rifles still in boxes I had forgotten and today a box with six old scopes. Four had small problems but two are new. I see some of these on the auction sites but the prices seem all over the place for scratched and ring marked Weaver scopes. What is the real $tory.
Cheers ..MJ..

Are you asking what to charge or just offering them for sale?

Where did you ever get an ART? It looks like an ART II I believe.

Offhand, I would say these scopes are pretty obsolete these days. Most scopes sold nowadays have variable power and fairly large objectives. I have bought such older scopes in great condition for no more than $20 apiece.

I too have bought some at relatively low prices, but these Weavers are still great scopes, I would probably pay as high as $75-100 for nice examples like these!

I think your right Angel. I have an old K4 on top of an '03 Springfield, K12 on my 10-22 heavy barrel and another K10 I'm saving for rebuild and topping another '03 for long range use. I'd like to find a K6 like this too.

We put a K4 on Dad's custom Mauser in 52. He bought the fine crosshair with the 1/4 minute dot. First firing, the right cross hair broke.
We sent it in and got it back in a couple of weeks. I mounted it on the rifle and sighted through it. !!! Dang! There was a little bow-knot in the right cross hair over at the edge of the field of view. Apparently, the cross hairs of those early scopes were made from spder silk and the repair lady just tied a knot in it to fix it back up. Weaver offered to give us a replacement, but Dad wouldn't trade that scope for anything. I still have it, but it is not on a rifle at the moment. Pops |

That's the reticle on my K4. I really like it and plan on having it put in my other Weavers when I have them rebuilt.

Both have the fine line reticules and I had a contact from a guy in Washington who restores old hunting rifles left his name incase I want to part with them some time. As I don't have a use for them and they seem next to worthless they may end up in let go pile.
Thanks for the input everyone. Cheers ..MJ.. |

IF you do decide to part with them I'd also be interested, especially in the K6

I'm sorry angle a guy just traded me a 3X and 100 rounds of 9X18 MAK for the K6
Did cost me a 117 mile drive at 75mph @ 28.4mpg. It's kind of rusty but has clear undamaged lens sets clear and sharp reticule plus the turrets work with snappy 1" clicks and made in 1942. Thanks again for the advice and thanks to your board member for the trades. ..MJ.. Last edited by MJ1; 09-12-2008 at 11:05 AM.. |
