Default Identify a 22 pump

This is my first post here. I dont want to waste anyones time asking what its worth tho.

Anyway its a hammerless 22 pump that resembles a 1903 Savage. Some big differences. Its a round barrel, takes only short cartridges and the clip looks like but much smaller than a 1903. Receiver is similar, but more square on back instead on the rounded shape. It has a rectangular block with a "S" stamped in that pops up on top of receiver when the slide is pulled back and breech is open. The frame has two tangs that butt stock mounts, very similar to Marlin 1891-1897 lever action along with nearly identical straight butt stock. Buttplate is plastic with no markings. The foregrip is short and smooth that is retained by only a pin thru slide arm. There are no markings or manufacturers name anywhere that I have found with exception to "22 CAL SMOKELESS CTG" on barrel in front of receiver. The safety is similar in shape but not the same as 1903. It is a take down and breaks apart nearly identical to the Savage line of pumps. Trigger guard is very similar to 1903. Bolt is similar in size and shape but does not roll up and lock closed like 1903 or 1925. I have several 1903, 25, 29 model pumps and this one has a lot of similarities to them, but looks more like another manufacturer that was copied. The lettering and numbering does not match the other models. Serial number is 34XX located on bottom tang. I cant find any good pics of a 1909 or 1914 that have any detail or decent description, so came here for some input. Thanks for any help.

FTF, pictures would be a great help in identifying this piece. Welcome to TFF,

The lower rifle is a 1903 Savage for comparison

Febiger Model 2 rifle. The company was basically put out of existence by threat of patent infringement lawsuit from Stevens around 1911. The Baker Firearms Co in New York had financial interest in the company and absorbed tooling, etc. Unmarked versions of these rifles may have been an attempt at liquidating existing inventory to recoup investment.

Thank you thank you thank you. Now I know what it is, already found a lot of info available online. I picked this up from a local that sold less than pristine 22 rf rifles at gun shows. Swapped a cover plate for a Colt 22 Lightning I made for him. He told me it was a 1909 Savage. But for the last 15 years, I kept looking it over and scratching my head. It looked like a Savage, but the parts were not really like the other similar models they made. Right before posting here I was reading about the similarities of the BSA and Savage magazine and patent infringement from Febiger on the UK site. I was looking at pics of the Febiger model #1 and never put the two together. I was really only focusing on the switch on side of receiver. DOH! Guess I should open my eyes and try to see what I am actually looking at. Again thanks for the ID and link.
