Hello , I bought an H&R "22 Special" back in 1977 for fifty bucks. I was rusted pretty badly on the cillinder and barrell. It shoots well and is a nine shot to boot. The serial number in 586825 and is found on the pistol on the inside of the handle, metal tang. It breaks from the top and has an ejector on the cillendar. It came with a white handle and a wooden hand grip as well. Any info at all would be appreciated. Joe

the "h&r 22 special" was manufactured between 1925 and 1941. serial number 586825 was manufactured between 1933 and 1938. as there are no factory serial number recorks for this model that is about as close as we will ever get to dating this revolver.
over size one piece walnut grips were standard for this revolver manufctured between 1933 and 1938. value of one in 60% original condition is $150. bill
