Remington 760 Action tube cap "bolt"

I have a 1961 Reminton 760 in .270 caliber.

I am trying to replace the beat-up, rusted swivels with something a little quiter.

I bought an uncle mike's replacement swivel "set" part number 1221-2 as listed on their website:

for pre 1968 rifles.

Here is a photo of my action tube cap where the original swivel was mounted with a small bolt:


here is a picture of the swivel, the bolt, and the action tube cap that I have removed, placed next to the bolt from Uncle Mike's


Here is the diagram from radocy takedown guide showing the action tube cap listed (part number 1)


So what's the deal? How is Uncle Mike's part supposed to fit on here? I also don't see anywhere that lists the little bolt as a part. It definitely looks original, not like someone drilled and tapped the action tube cap.

Please help me out. You can probably tell I have put a lot of time into determining what part I need, and it hasn't gotten me anywhere.

Janson, Adapter bolt swivel base replaces factory fore-end bolt without dismantling. Go to http://www.e-gunparts.com/productsch...Model=0860z760 look at #26 and read what it says. This another shematic http://www.e-gunparts.com/schemzoom.asp?schem=0860z760 Hope this helps

so is the fore-end bolt and the action tube cap the same thing? As far as I can tell, I don't have a fore-end bolt.

I guess what I am trying to say, is I don't have a factory fore-end bolt. The diagram that I posted is what I have.

Adapter bolt swivel base replaces factory fore-end bolt. You said the picture is what you had. Just replace the broken swivel base. Did you look at those pics? It tells you about the screw. Hope this helps

if you look at the pictures that you posted, and the pictures that I posted, they are two different guns. I have the pre-1968 760, and you posted pictures of the post 1968 760. The uncle mike's swivel that replaces the factory fore-end bolt is for pre-1968 rifles.

Jason, Check your serial number. I posted a pic of a 1961 Rem 760. It doesn't look like yours. I think someone modified yours to make it work. Parts were not as easy to find back then. Good Luck

jason c when the older 760 needed swivles the tube end was driled and tapp for a swivle stud. check what thread yours is tap.or the barrell bands for the 7600 rem will fitt and will put no strain on the action tube.good luck jomac

I have the same 760 gamemaster, only in .300 Savage. ?I have a very low serial # (16xxx). that makes it pre 1968 also. plus the .300 Sav was no longer offered after 1960. So how does this kit fit? I bought the same one and it makes no sense.
