I've got a model 70 featherweight in 30-06 serial #425282. The gun is in almost new condition as it was given to me be my non hunting godfather who won it in a raffle a long time ago. I have put maybe twenty rounds through it over the years. Anyway, what year was it made and what is it's value?
Thanks...Mike

The book says that an ought six, Featherweight rifle, in "Excellent" condition, is worth $1800. "Very Good" is worth 1150.

Thank you sir for the valuation. Not planning on selling, memories and all,but its a good whitetail in brush gun, when I can get on a lease. So it does get shot. Would you put 10 or so a year through it or put it up as an investment? Thank you...Mike

Guns are made to be shot. You have a pre-64 Winchester 70. It'd be a sin and a shame NOT to take it out and shoot it. And unless you seriously screw up (have it in a saddle scabbard when your horse falls off the side of the mountain. use the barrel as a jack handle when changing a tire) - if you treat it like any intelligent person should treat a gun, it will always be valuable.
