Next AWB - Assault Weapons Ban
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The next AWB is already in committee. The House Bill is H.R. 6257 Here is what they want to ban. Yes, this is VERY real. (b) DEFINITION OF SEMIAUTOMATIC ASSAULT WEAPON- Section 921(a) of title 18, United States Code, is amended by adding after paragraph (29) the following: `(30) The term `semiautomatic assault weapon' means-- `(A) any of the firearms, or copies or duplicates of the firearms in any caliber, known as-- `(i) Norinco, Mitchell, and Poly Technologies Avtomat Kalashnikovs (all models); `(ii) Action Arms Israeli Military Industries UZI and Galil; `(iii) Beretta Ar70 (SC-70); `(iv) Colt AR-15; `(v) Fabrique National FN/FAL, FN/LAR, and FNC; `(vi) SWD M-10, M-11, M-11/9, and M-12; `(vii) Steyr AUG; `(viii) INTRATEC TEC-9, TEC-DC9 and TEC-22; and `(ix) revolving cylinder shotguns, such as (or similar to) the Street Sweeper and Striker 12; `(B) a semiautomatic rifle that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least 2 of-- `(i) a folding or telescoping stock; `(ii) a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon; `(iii) a bayonet mount; `(iv) a flash suppressor or threaded barrel designed to accommodate a flash suppressor; and `(v) a grenade launcher; `(C) a semiautomatic pistol that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least 2 of-- `(i) an ammunition magazine that attaches to the pistol outside of the pistol grip; `(ii) a threaded barrel capable of accepting a barrel extender, flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer; `(iii) a shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel and that permits the shooter to hold the firearm with the nontrigger hand without being burned; `(iv) a manufactured weight of 50 ounces or more when the pistol is unloaded; and `(v) a semiautomatic version of an automatic firearm; and `(D) a semiautomatic shotgun that has at least 2 of-- `(i) a folding or telescoping stock; `(ii) a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon; `(iii) a fixed magazine capacity in excess of 5 rounds; and `(iv) an ability to accept a detachable magazine.'. They aren't going after just the magazines this time. They want it all. |

**** my AR almost made it, guess I got to take the grenade launcher off
.Thats a bummer too, I was all set to rob a bank with it... just like you know... always happens. Kidding about the AR (well and robbing the bank)... I don't have one... of course thats about to change. Though the SL8 actually might make it past the ban, which sure would make my choice a lot easier (if it was all that was available). ![]()

We need a good 'ol fashion 'come to Jesus' style meeting where we let politicians know that their job is over if they pass this kind of legislation. After all, Clinton suggests that 20 Democrat House and Senate seats were lost due to support of the 1994 ban. Are our current Dumbocrats honestly stupid enough to support another ban of this type and believe that we won't vote them out of office on greased rails?
I would hope that even politicians have more sense than this, especially considering that the guns involved in the ban are NOT used in crime to any measurable and meaningful extent. If we let morons ban these guns which serve no measurable purpose, then imagine what they can do when they go after 'sniper rifles' capable of 0.5" shot groups at 100 yards... Hello, hunting rifle ban... ![]()

To use a popular term these days, the Democrats "chickens are going to gome home to roost." They pull this stuff and **** doesn't get better people are going to be mad. I'm starting to think the only way to solidly destroy the democrats for a good chunk of time is give them control. 16 or 20 years of democrats "do what I say and we will make your life better" will come to a shaterring screetch when people realize it just doesn't work that way.
Meanwhile they will come begging for the "life is already good, if you want it better get a job" of the conservatives ![]()

"But the simple truth--born of experience--is that tyranny thrives best where government need not fear the wrath of an armed people." Judge Alex Kozinski
With the Democrats current agenda, it is no wonder why they abhor the Second Amendment.
