Hi, I do not know very much about guns and I received a Remington Model 31 12 gauge shotgun, Serial # 297XX from my grandfather when he passed away. The gun is in good shape, minimal scratches/nicks, but would not consider it in "new" condition.
Does anyone know what this might sell for/be worth? From one other post I read it can vary from $150 to $2,110, but that is very broad. Also, based on the serial #, can someone tell me the year it was manufactured in? Thanks T

Not by the serial number, but there should be some letter codes on the back end of the barrel. This site will translate them into month and year of manufacture.

So can someone help in appraising the weapon given that it appears to have been produced March of 1939?
