Default HR6257 is coming

H.R. 6257 - Assault Weapon Ban Re-authorization Act of 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h110-6257

This proposed Bill severely attacks our 2A rights. Even more restrictive and specific than the original expired Bill.

Write/phone/email the sponsor, cosponsors and your own representatives to prevent this Bill from proceding any further.

I am not going into the political aspects of this, but it is gun related and RKBA related and we need to pay special attention to this

I guess my 1932 Mossberg Model C single-shot bolt-action .22 not being on the "okay" list makes it an assault weapon now too. Oh....but it's description is okay....Hmmm I guess it's going to be whoever wants to re-interpret the law the day I get caught with it.

And besides, didn't you know that in order for a gun to be effective as an assault weapon it needs to be huge and cumbersome and have a bayonette mount on it. These people are silly and watch entirely too many movies.

There is also the California interpretation of an assault weapon, that is any firearm or replica of a firearm type that has ever been used in a war by the military.
There goes my flintlock!

a) RESTRICTION- Section 922 of title 18, United States Code, is amended by adding after subsection (u) the following:
‘(v)(1) It shall be unlawful for a person to manufacture, transfer, or possess a semiautomatic assault weapon.
Wait...they are trying to ban possession now too? I just wrote my Representative, thanks for the heads up.

That part you quoted is immediately followed by this:
Quote:
‘(2) Paragraph (1) shall not apply to the possession or transfer of any semiautomatic assault weapon otherwise lawfully possessed under Federal law on the date of the enactment of this subsection.
If it is already here legally, you're OK. We just can't get any more.

This is the exact reason I went and bought an AK.
