I recently aquired an old 1973 High Standard .22LR "Plinker" model auto in very good condition with the original grips and the original box.
Serial #2413831 I would like to put a red dot optic on it so I will need to mount a rail on the barrel. Has anyone done this or have any info on what rail would work best? Also what size/length screws would be best on my 6" barrel? Thanks in advance, Jim

Interesting, no replies
![]() Well I made my own from a modified Weaver base rail for a Thompson Contender. The radius cut on the bottom matches the radius on the Hi-Std's barrel section just past the slide very well. I had to cut the mount in half and file an additional slot in the top to fit my red dot. I will also need to drill one additional mounting hole as the cut left only one. All in all a quick and inexpensive mount at about $12 for the Weaver rail. |
