Museum seeks info on Stevens 22 Long Rifle - The Firearms Forum

We are a museum with a "J. Stevens A & T Co. Chicopee Falls Mass. 22 Long Rifle" stamped "677" under the trigger guard. I've attached photos. Wondering what you might be able to tell us about this rifle. Thanks!

Stevens Favorite 1917 that should be marked on the top of the receiver
Falling block action made in 22 and 32 cal

I have the same gun. Not sure what cal it is. I know it's not a 22. Did they make a .32 short or long?

Yes, the Favorite was also made in .32 Rimfire.

The rifle pictured may be a Stevens Favorite but it isn't the Model 1915, the last version before WW II. It's an earlier rifle. The falling block top profile is not squared off, a sure indicator of the 1915.

The number on the bottom tang, "677", might have meant something at some point. No factory records from this period exist. Serial numbers weren't required when this was made.

I don't know how you display this rifle or the context but from strictly a condition point of view, it needs a lot of help. Not a collector piece.
