Mostly bayonets from both world wars and some post-war. The WWI German "butcher blade" is much like a small cutlass, and would serve well if all else fails. TJ

Heck ya...
those puppys are bad, been thinking of picking up an old one for my collection. they are a very vicious weapon, and take up very little space. I had a Cree girl friend that packed one. Glade are paths separated as friends ![]()

Beautiful knife, Alpo. Looks like a camo type pattern, or water, maybe even reptilian. TJ

I have about 60 knives but only one straight razor. Can anyone tell me if it is worth anything?
The blade is marked: "Imperial Razor Warranted Registered 20507 Germany" The blade is also etched. It has a likeness of Admiral Dewey and the words "Admiral Dewey Defeated Spanish Fleet Off Manila May 1898." The box is marked "Oxford Razor Co. Price $3.00" and "Germany" ![]() I would expect that it would have been issued soon after the event took place. If that is true it would probably be over 100 years old. My sister gave it to me. She bought it at an auction. I don't know what she paid for it.

Okay, can anyone tell me why my image didn't come through?
Ignore this post. As you can see above, I figured it out.

Bayonets, mostly- with a few swords and other edged what-nots that tickled my fancy. Can't get the other wall in the pic, it looks about the same.

Thanks Reinhard, I've been picking them up since 1974 as finances allowed and they've kinda accumulated over the years... the bayonet you're talking about is the US M1873 trowel bayonet. The idea was to give the infantry a tool to quickly scrape a shallow furrow; enough to lie down in when taking fire- experience in our civil war had shown this would greatly decrease casualties (as opposed to standing there, in dressed ranks, whilst the enemy fired shot and shell at you- go figger, eh?).
As a digger it worked well- but had no penetrating qualities as a bayonet so the design was dropped. Who's the maker of that stag bowie in in the second pic (with the revolver)? It's a beaut...! |

I wouldn't say I'm a collector, but I have been aquireing some very cool knives from a company called Bark River Knife and Tool. They don't make folders as far as I know, but they make very good working fixed blades from small to large, in different categories, that are several notches up the ladder from traditional over the counter production knives. Kinda halfway between a custom knifemaker and a production knife company. Most fall in the $100-$200 dollar range new, unless you go for one of the more exotic handles that can be had. Watch out though, for some reason they are addictive.
