As I just crossed 2500 posts I hope the bosses will allow me a small diversion. As some know I spent some time in the states in past years, and on occasion worked with your people. You know what I loved most, well a lot anyway? A real Burger and Coke. The red stuff, not diet and the Burger with everything, especially onions.
Thank you for Coke. ![]() I learnt another valuable lesson with SFPD at 2am at a donut place twenty something years ago. The lesson? The officer I was with, as a guest, ordered a hot chocolate and coffee, then mixed them! Great! I still do it. ![]() Thank you for choffee. ![]()

Thanks for the congrats, I shall celebrate with another can of the real thing.
![]() Like you pinecone, I love the stuff. I have a friend who when we have guests over instead of a bottle of wine, brings a 20 box of Coke.. And that word 'beverage' I love it, we dont use it hardly at all and when I hear it, well, 'beverage'.

I have had to restrict my Coke consumption these past couple of years, and sometimes I have one when I go to a restaurant. People must think I'm drinking something stronger than Coke, given my reaction, it makes me swoon!
I got my first job due to my mother refusing to buy me anymore Coke!

Well, Tranter so long as it is only the kind that comes in the red can and not the stuff they used to mix with it--chemical formula C17 H21 NO4 (benzoylmethyl ecgonine)--I suppose it can't do much harm.
Besides, it mixes rather well with rum. Personally though, I prefer Pepsi or RC. ![]()

Always loved coke but have to watch the sugar so switched to diet coke. Then a friend sent me an article about aspartame and i went searching. Finally found Pepsi One...no calories, no sugar, no aspartame, just Splenda. It's not the "real thing" but it gets me by.

![]() Dear TranterUK, As stated by self in earlier post, god bless our UK allies. With Britian soil being high on my places to go fore I die list, I understand your delima. Your country is one I have not had opportunity to go through yet. It has been my experience overseas however, that CocaCola remained failry consistent with the beverage I enjoy here at home, and I have regained an odd desire for it over the last two years as it seems to help me tolerate new medicines better on my gut. As to burgers, on a similiar level, I cant say about genuine U.S. beef or the abillity to readily get some to you , however the thought came to mind as this : There is a brand of burger enjoyed by many here from a very original and unique chain called " whitecastle". They are few in Texas as I know of , but the frozen prepared packages are abundant. I know they are aquired taste, though historical, but I mention them for the following reasons: 1. Small diced onions inherent in burger and apply to cravings. 2. taste is aquired vs. larger full patty type old burgers. 3. But per chance, at least to my findings : a- Not only are these particular little burgers quite good even though quick frozed : b- the are one of the very few similiar type quick heat ready to to eat deals that I happen to find considerably close to being very good. Anyway, thought being if you know of these or wish to, it should be possible to utilize dry ice packing and send some of these over. I would hope you could find a fresh US style burger there , but maybe you cant. I recently saw a "Wendy's" pic of place put in over in Bosnia just for some of our boys, would hope you could find similiar around there. Just got on, still asleep, so if all you were applying was "nothing good as cke/burger here " , then agreed. best regards, ps: would sure like to hear more from "horses mouth" as they say, about just exactly what went wrong considering the small arms possesion over there and long arms too. And , what are yall doin about fixin that...... ![]() |

Next time here, try Dr. Pepper.
And, if you ever make it to SoCal, or near us, you CANNOT MISS In-N-Out Burger. Best burger in the World.

hmmmmmmmmm the red can "Classic Coke" was my chaser of choice (is there any other?) for my George Dickel Wiskey. I quit drinking because I finally come to realize that no matter how much I drank they would always make more.
I am now pretty much addicted to the silver can "Diet Coke". I really need to get off that stuff and get back on iced tea. Hamburgers were given to the United States by Angels from Heaven as a gift for kicking the Brits out. (Sorry Tranter but it is true) There is no other perfect sandwich known to man than a good hamburger. |

I've lost around 50 pounds, in no small part to almost entirely cutting soda out of my life. I have had 3 cans in the fridge for about 3 months with no desire to touch them. It leaves me feeling like **** and meh. Surprisingly I went from drinking up to 7 cans a day regularly to just cutting it out to the point I won't even get a soda at the movie theaters anymore.
One exception probably is Dr. Pepper, if there is Dr. Pepper around I may indulge in a can. I found soda water an awesome replacement. You feel good drinking water, but its more exciting than regular water.

Tranter,
Congrats on passing the big 2.5K! Your comments are always enjoyed, bringing a different perspective to our all too often myopic observations. Keep 'em comming! p.s. Should you ever make your way into my "neck 'o th' woods", I would be honored to be your host at Litton's Market, purveyors of what may be the FINEST burger on the planet, accompanied by a basket of piping hot 'fries', and a FOUNTAIN coke, unsurpassed in its effervescent, icy flavor.

I'm afraid all the Seattlites here can confirm that you are mistaken MrKirker, and you just really can't be Dick's Drive-In.

Looks like Coffee wins on the caffeine count. I shall stick to my current schedule of starting the day with three or four coffees before turning to tea, from about ten.
