How many rounds can you load with that massive powder hopper? Must hold several pounds of powder. Good lookin' set up there, and I like the signs on the wall. Beauty! |

Come on over when you get done and you can start on mine. I had a guy donate 8 bags of shot, 16lbs of Red Dot, 10 bags of wads, and some more AA hulls for our youth trap shooting club. I went to town today and bought 1000 primers so I can get started. We have our 1st shoot on April 15th so I had better get started.

no kiddn. you got some work to do brother. least shotshell loadn is nice and easy. long as them hulls aint splittn at the crimp youre good to go.
You loadn 12s? I got a sweet trap load ill give you if so. Pertaining to WAA hulls and others of similar construction: Fiocchi 616 primer 18 gr red dot WAA12 wad 1 1/8 oz 7.5 or 8 BPI overshot card This is an easy shooting 2 3/4 dram dead on clay grinder load. The kids will be able to shoot all day without shoulder fatigue. It chronys 1130 fps from my comped 870. prolly 1150 or so from a std 28" shotgun.

I have had several guys donating money for the prizes we give away and also to help cover the cost of clays and such. This year we are giving away a TC Encore for 1st place in the trap shoot and a Savage 17HMR for the rifle shoot. My wife and I put close to 1200.00 in the club funds each year and any extra we get helps out. This year we have close to 25 kids wanting to shoot and we furnish all the shells and clays so it all adds up pretty fast.

Finalized a .223 load for the Mini-14 last night and test fired today. Not too bad for a Mini.

OVER 2000 PULLS ON THE ROCK CHUCKER
Seems like most everyone has been to the range shooting but it rained all day here yesterday so I sat down at the reloading bench. All I have ever had is the single stage RCBS Rock Chucker and it is too late now to update. Turned out of 500+ rounds of 9mm Luger, Winchester 124gr. FMJ, 4.2gr. Hodgdon HP-38 powder, CCI sm. pistol primers in mixed brass. COL is 1.130 and crimp is .377. While most of it will be fired in the Glock 19 the little Smith & Wesson 669 takes a much better picture. With luck I will be at the range tomorrow.

Beauty Todd, now get some ice on that shoulder!
We have the same press, BTW and I did the same as you and got a RCBS hand primer and took off the press priming system. So how long will it take you to burn up 500 rounds? |

I like the set up Todd. I also like the sign that says "Make Visual Inspection." I also like the barstool. Where did you get that?

Gary that should last a couple months unless some of the other Old Guys start hitting me up for some ammo. But right now I am enjoying playing with that S&W K-38 I picked up. My problem is I like shooting a lot of different guns but that also means I am not good with any of them, ha.
Thanks Highboy. Found the stool at that place of high quality machine tools "Harbor Freight, ha. Just couldn't resist bringing it home. That sign I put up because I screwed up last year. I had tried loading cases while they were still in the loading block. Had not done that for thirty years but it was faster. I forgot to do the visual check and sure enough I had missed a row and stuck a bullet in the barrel of my 1911, so the sign. But I have gone back to my tired and true of picking up the inverted case, turning it right side up and placing it under the powder dispenser and then placing it in another tray and when the tray is full I do the visual but never have had a problem with that method but do the check any way. I weigh every tenth also. Just embarrassed that I had that screw up last year. I'm loading more than I ever have and that was why I was wanting to speed things up but I got in trouble because I didn't do the visual.

Joe, if it doesn't rain us out I hope to be shooting some .45 Colt also. One of the new guys to the range just got a Judge for his birthday and is wanting to shoot it bad. He was shocked when he priced new .45 Colt ammo. I told him I reload it and don't buy any for plinking purposes. But they are calling for rain tomorrow so will just have to wait and see.
The sign was a surprise gift from a friend.

The wife and I made our weekly trip to the range Friday night. So I spent this afternoon loading 200 rnds of 38spl (158gr plated SWC over 3.8gr of W231, OAL: 1.450") and 200 rnds of 45acp (230gr LRN over 4.9gr of W231, OAL: 1.240"). I need to place another order for plated bullets for my 40s&w, and 45acp. I am down to about 800 loaded rnds. Next week should be busy with loading!

I've become disappointed with plated bullets over time so thought I would go back to some straight up honest fmj's. I was feeling a bit randy when ordering from Powder Valley and decided on Hornady's 230 grain offering. To me their 45 fmj's have the ideal ogive and their manufacturing quality is the best in the business. I've tried zero's and precision delta's, and while very good neither seem quite as well made as Hornady.
I decided on 5.0 grains of Bullseye, CCI primers with an OAL of 1.265. 200 loaded up so far this weekend; hopefully I'll get another 150 done today. |

Oooooo, those look beautimus. Just like candy. Nothing like new bullets and new shiny brass. I'm with you Gary on going back to the regular fmj's. Just makes like simple. I'm slowly working my way through a box of 1000 Remington's 230 fmj. Like your load.

Started with 20 last week just to try test my new order I got from Xtreme bullets. 115gr 9mm was the projectile. They functioned fired perfectly and I went to work over the weekend. Spent a couple hours on Saturday morning and then here and there for the remainder of the weekend. Loaded up 600 and ready for some range time.

Put together more 9mm with Berry's plated hollow point, and .223 with Hornady 55gr FMJ-BT.
