Just came in a little while ago from loading up another 300 12ga shells for the youth trap shoot this coming Sunday. Looking forward to another great day with the kids.

A Georgia based forum that I visit had a man who has just started out reloading and had some questions about setting up his dies. I invited him to my house to show him a little about reloading. He brought all the makings for .45ACP and his dies and came over thin morning. We spent a couple of hours where I showed him how set up his dies and then he proceeded to load about 50 rounds on my old Lee press. But then I spoiled him, I set up my Dillon for .45 and he loaded up a little more than 100 on the Dillon. As he was leaving, he was already talking of "moving up" to a progressive.
When he left, I loaded up a bunch of .40 S&W.

cut apart some home cast OO buckshot from my Lee mold to load later this week. Been farting around loading my .40, I normally knock out a full 1000 pack of bullets in a day or two in between other stuff, been doing it 100 ish at a time being lazy.
Bent a decapping pin in the Dillon (no matter how careful I go), had to re-cut the threads and threw some loctite in there to keep the pin from coming loose again. RCBS progressive decapping pin also! has the small spring inside.

I go nice and careful but I must ramp it up too much after a while; I have a nasty habit of mushing decapping pins in my Dillon. Every 20-30 rounds I run my hand over the dies to make sure they are snug, the resizer/decapping one will normally wiggle a tad loose after 100-200 rounds. The Dillon wrench is great in theory but it won't fit on but one or two things on the press!
Ordered another 8lb-er of Clays for my skeet loads, down to my last couple pounds. $158 total, ouch.

I've had problems getting 12g wads lately; was paying $9/500 for a while and they made the jump to $12, problem is, S&H is an arm and a leg now on top of that. Went to place an order for $48 worth of wads and shipping was going to be $28!!! no way.
I scrounge locally or tack a bag or two on with each Midway order. I normally shoot Rainier pistol bullets, when I started they would only set me back $55 at most, just paid $140 + tax for 1000 last week! Tomorrow I will probably get back on the 12g MEC for thursday's weekly skeet. probably run out of shot again, bought 75 lbs two weeks ago and it's almost gone... crap

holy smokes, 20 can easily get thru some ammo! I have enough trouble keeping up with myself, I don't even want to know how broke I'm going to be once my 2 sons start shooting... Less for me and more for them I guess! I still appreciate all the old timers who helped me grow up in the shooting world, I hope to pass on the same to my kids. Good to see some youngsters enjoying shooting; it was dying when I was a kid, hope to at least continue what we have

Working on finishing up loading all my 30-378 brass, found over another 100 pieces I had misplaced, so trying out 50 Barnes MRX 180s & the rest in Hornady GMX 165s. 98 grains RL-22 with the MRX and not quite sure yet with GMX 165s, 100 or 102 grains.
Those MTM boxes are $9.95 at cabelas & midway. Midway tried screwin me today 45 dollar shipping for $59 worth of MTM boxes, didn't weigh 5 lbs; told the girl she was nuts and called Calbelas. Cried my story to Lady at Cabelas and she gave me free shipping, no joke; my lucky day. File that one away folks for the future. |

Oh no, no, no. Maybe 4 weeks, maybe. Half way through that I started .357, then 45 acp, and then the .06. Then there's the broken bicycles, the lawn needs mowed, ice cream needs to be ate, teasing the grand kids, and then of course being on TFF. What can I say?

finally finished the .458 win mag loads with the heavier bullet I have; casted these like 2 months ago, finally stuffed 'em where the belong. 475gn RN gas check. These will hurt...
![]() freakin' artillery shells.... Then turned a bunch of these: ![]() Into these: ![]() Love the different colors, I will be using these for hunting shells for grouse and whatnot this year; going to load a few different loads by color hull so I can quickly switch ammo just by looking at it if need be for different game/shots.

I use OS cards sometimes, usually for a better crimp on buckshot/slugs, but usually not in bulk skeet loads; the blue hull is just a single pellet wedged in the center, happens pretty often. The ones that leak are the really old hulls that I've fired a billion times, occasionally one will open and dump the whole charge out in my ammo bag.
my remington STS hulls are toasted, using some old AA's also on their last leg and these new federal top guns. Saving any new once fired remington gun clubs for slug/buck loads. If anyone does need OS cards, CircleFly in PA have great stuff as well as Ballistic Products. Midway stocks a handful of BP's stuff also for good prices.

overshot cards, sorry.
With most bird shot loads, OS cards have a tendency to degrade the pattern. I've not personally tested this myself though, just in buckshot loads where I see no difference. launched a bunch of my 12g reloads at the skeet range this afternoon, managed to stay in the 20's until the 4th round. wind was honkin' today. As for the .458, I only have 2 molds as of now, need to try a couple more bullets; I can't get either of mine to shoot very consistent. Tried sizing to both .458 and .459", about every powder out there, different case lengths, nothing hits good enough... Going to try a 45-70 sillouhette mold I think...
