i bought and rcbs partner press and have been buying rcbs dies to go with it, but after finding a set of lee dies for .40 s&w in the bargain cave of cabellas for $20 i snatched them up. they look harly usedonly one of the dies looks to have been put in a press. anyways, my ? is when reading the manual it said only to use shell holders for that press/brand ect. to adjust the sizing die you raise the piston all the way and back off and a 1/4 turn down it should be in the correct position. will the lee dies work the same way in the rcbs press with a rcbs shell holder? plz enlighten my reloading newbie berain to the correct process. it didnt come with instructions, also there are 4 dies, one says 10/40 g8 is that the crimping die? h8 looks like the bullet seater. thanks in advance

With a Lee 4-die pistol set:
The sizing die has the decapping pin in it. The belling die is open to the top, and the thing inside is funnel-shaped. The seating die has a piece at the top that you can screw up and down. The crimping die is open to the top and has a carbide sizing ring at the bottom. |

Teddy - You can use any kind of dies in any kind of press, The shell holders are all pretty much exactly alike except a few cosmetic differences. Lee dies and shell holders will work in RCBS presses and RCBS dies and shell holders will work in Lee presses.
I have been using a LEE single stage press for about 35 years. I have Lee, RCBS, and Lyman shell holders. I have RCBS and Lee dies, and just ordered a Redding die. So basically, everything is interchangeable if they are standard dies! I hope I answered your question!

AL - Yes and we miss him, on Jan 16 we celebrate Robert E. Lee day. It is a federal holiday, you know.
