I bought a tele scope for around $100 to use as a spotting scope. I can really zoom in on that target now! I started out looking for a spotting scope, and could not believe the price they wanted for one. So I opted for the more powerfull, and cheaper tele scope.

If you want the cheap of a department store telescope and the compact of a spotting scope look online for russian military surplus spotting scopes. Even check out your favorite large auction website.

Cool Re: spotting scope

I got a Barska 20X60X60 spotting scope from Sportsman's Guide for around $60 that works great out to 200 yds. Is clear and easy to see through even on the little .22 holes in the targets. Comes with a sturdy tripod and carrying case.
