Default H&R model 922

I recently acquired an H&R Model 922 with Serial number AP121XXX

Can anyone give me a little history on this pistol? It's just a neat older gun that I would like to know more about - when it was manufactured, etc

Are they worth anything and should I save it or will I be just fine shooting it?

thank you
