The following is an excerpt from the website www.parentalrights.org. This site has been established to garner support AGAINST ratification of the UNCRC. This is extremely serious legislation that, if passed, will severely impact families nationwide.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "The vital child-parent relationship is deeply valued in millions of homes across the nation. Yet most American families have no idea of the extent to which this precious relationship is now jeopardized by the threat of international treaty law."Today the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) is approaching a possible ratification by the United States Senate. This treaty, as harmless as it may appear, is capable of attacking the very core of the child-parent relationship, removing parents from their central role in the growth and development of a child, and replacing them with the long arm of government supervision within the home." WHAT IS THE UNCRC? "The UNCRC is an international treaty focused on promoting the rights of children and seeking to give children priority in the implementation of governmental measures. The Convention claims to offer a road map that will guide government officials in the improvement of laws and policies, by defining which rights the government should give to children." A VEILED THREAT "Since its introduction in 1989, the Convention has been ratified by every nation in the world except for the United States and Somalia. The CRC was signed by President Clinton in 1995, but early opposition in the Senate persuaded Clinton not to submit the treaty to the Senate for ratification. "The Senators who opposed the CRC in 1995 believed that the Convention marked a significant departure from the American concept of the relationship between state and child, and was incompatible with the right of parents to raise their children...." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Only a constitutional amendment will ensure that the courts of our nation protect the fundamental right of parents to raise their children. And only a constitutional amendment will override international law that seeks to undermine the parental role...." To read more about this issue, please visit their website. There are ways to get involved and make a difference!
I am opposed to any treaty of any kind with other nations which would dictate any internal policies or laws of the United States. I am especially opposed to anything that abomination we call the UN comes up with. Why would we even consider such a treaty? Just another thing that makes me feel like there is a conspiracy to destroy this nation with the chief conspirators in the white house and congress.
Seems to me someone once warned us about "foreign entanglements" and boy have we got ourselves entangled. The sooner we got untangled the better. |
What is this BS about "treaties" that impose regulations on individuals? Treaties impose international regulations on governments; laws impose regulations on individual people.
If the Senators want this (or any of their other) $#!+ to apply to the American people, then they should go about it the right way! This back-door crap is going to piss off a lot of people.
