Just bought an old pistol, sure looks like a Browning Challenger but there are no letters in the serial number. The serial # on bottom of the barrel is 76800, markings on left side are FABRIQUE NATIONALE D'ARMES DE GUERRE
HERSTAL-BELGIQUE Markings on the right side are BROWNING'S PATENT DEPOSE 22 LONG RIFLE Anyone have any ideas??? Thanx Len

FN made a Challenger in 4 1/2 and 6 3/4 between 1962 and 1975 with walnut grips. They also made a Nomad in the same lengths, but with black plastic grips, 1962-74. Hope this helps in narrowing it down. TJ
