I received a CZ-82 and can't figure how to engage the safety. Did everything by the manual. Any one out there had the same problem?

Ambi levers on the frame. Up is safe. Down is fire. For more info:
http://www.freeexistence.org/vz82.html Can you explain more? The safety will NOT act as a decocker. More like a M1911. |

The safety will not move to the "safe" position. Stuck in "unsafe".

WRC: 1. Did you take the grips off to see if anything was stuck in there?
2. Look at the rear portion of the safety mechanism. When you try to put it on safe are there any obstructions by the hammer? 3. Have you looked at a diagram and compared your gun to it to see if anything looks abnormal? Look at page 20 in this link to compare http://www.cz-usa.com/data/downloads...uals/CZ_83.pdf -AimHigh |

OK. Went back to look at mine to see if there is anything else you can do. First, (this will take a little imagination) cock the hammer and look at the gun sideways. See the pin that mounts the safety to the frame? Again, with a little imagination the see that pin as the "eye" and the rear part of the safety/frame as the "head" of a snake. When the safety is engaged the top "jaw" of the snake closes on the bottom "jaw". Try looking in the open "mouth" for obstructions. If there is anything there (metal shaving, dirt, hardened cosmo) you won't be able engage the safety. -AimHigh

I took it apart, gave all parts a good cleaning. Nothing I can see to cause the problem. The vendor is sending me a shipping label to return for a refund at no cost to me. Thanks for all the advice.
