Got my pistol license in 1991, got a Smith 28 first. Saw an ad in a local shopper with 4 guns about a year later. When I went to look at them one was a Flat top blackhawk 357 4& 5/8 barrel serial # 1330. Got it for 175.00. It was carried by the original owner when he hunted in the Adirondacks of Northern NY. Blue wear but a good shooter. He passed away and his widow sold all his guns.

Parse me a link to it, I keep getting no search results for 'rare single six'

Hey, what do you know it did work. Here is one last pic. With the exception of the special grips they put on it, it looks just like your vaquero. Other than someday picking up a flat top 3 screw I can't think of any other single six I would like as much as this one.

John, I don't know if you could. Fleetwood's gun is not casehardened, it is just colored to look like it is. Ruger doesn't caseharden their guns, they apply a finish that looks like casehardening. I've heard that, because their frames are investment cast, instead of forged, they won't take the casehardening. Don't know if that's true, but it's supposed to be the reasoning behind the finish.

Dang, thatn even looks like it has a steel grip frame also. I bet it feels good in your hand. Thats the only reason I bought my vaquero, It just felt gooooood
I have a flattop single six that is on its way to becoming all steel, I am going to order a SBH square back grip frame for it, I pulled the one off my .44 and it fits so im gonna order anothern. I cant stand the aluminum grip frames, they are too light, and the finish doesnt ever match. Nor can I stand the aluminum ejector rod housings, I just like a heavy pistol I guess![]()

Stupid question probably but can those aluminum ejector rod housings be replaced with something better?

Yes, a couple of people make steel ejector rod housings for Rugers.
