Smile So, suddenly, I'm Mr. .22 Rifle.

A week ago I was the proud owner of two .22 rifles, a Marlin Model 60 and a bolt action Savage whose model number escapes me now (and which I'm too lazy to open the gun safe to ascertain).

Today that rimfire brood has doubled.

First my stepson presented me with a Glenfield Model 20 bolt action, well used (and missing its magazine) but still in good condition (I ordered a magazine from Marlin) as a gift last Friday.

Then last night my wife's daughter in law offered to sell me the synthetic stocked Ruger 10/22 carbine she's owned for years (well, for a few years anyway; she's only 25) at a ridiculously low price (which I won't even mention here). She explained that she wants a home defense handgun and has no use for the 10/22, so when she named her price I snapped it up (with the promise to help her select a handgun and to instruct her in its use in the near future).

So now I'm Mr. .22 Rifle.

Hey, there's worse things to be.

.22s have to be the most fun of all firearms to shoot leisurely. It's hard to get tired plinking with a firearm of such low recoil and cost of shooting. Congratulations!

Only trouble is, I cannot find any 550 round packs of Federal HPs ANYWHERE at the moment.

Just found out my "new" 10/22 was made in 1998.

You can find out when any Ruger firearms was made here:

A 10/22 with a 25 round banana clip and loaded with Stingers could suffice as a home defense weapon TJ

There are certainly worse things one could be

Enjoy Your Rifles

I have 4 myself with plans to expand the collection:

BRNO Model #1 with Mueller APV Scope
BRNO ZKM 468 Single Shot Bolt Action (Garden Gun)
CZ 452 ZKM Varmint with Weaver V-16 Scope
Stevens Model 72 Crackshot (Currently in transit to my FFL)

Would like to snag several more CZ's but also want to aquire a 10/22, maybe in heavy barrel target configuration....

Good Shooting
