Loading for the .30-06 per the Lee manual.
56 grains of H4350 starting load 155 grain Nosler custom competition HPBT Winchester or Remington once fired brass I don't have any primers yet so I'm not sure what to get there. I got the bullets at Gander Moutain for 29 bucks for 100. I also saw the 150 grain ballistic silvertip that winchester loads there too but I wanted to try something different than what I already shoot. I'll be shooting these out of a Ruger M77 MkII. Any thoughts on what primer I should try to get? Also any thoughts on this load in general? I'll start here and see what my rifle likes by moving up in half grain increments.

Flannelman,
Not to be a smart ass, but I would use any LR primer I could get my hands on. |

The Lee manual just calls for large rifle primers not magnum. I can't find any primers locally so I'm just gonna have to order some and wait till they come in I guess.

I would recommend sticking with non magnum primers until you can evaluate the load you are using. General rule is that mag primers add a little more initial chamber pressure due to hotter ignition. As far as the bullets go, I would suggest that you BUY the 150 grain silvertip WIN. If that is what you are shooting for factory loads; it would be a great comparision and base to judge the effectiveness of your hand loads. That is, IF the factory loads group decent and you're getting good performance out of them. Best of luck to you .
