Had been looking at a turkish mauser ( 38 ) the other day. dealer was ignorant.. so passed. found another at a show and bit on it as price was good. average old turk.. strong rifeling and bore is decently brite i think though she needs a scrubbing. wood is dark, metal is surprisingle good with no pitting. action and bolt and internal mag is practically packed with stiff waxy grease that looks way stiffer than most gelatin cosmo i've seen. this stuff actually looks like waxy grease.. or the old stiff short fiber wheel bearing grease that was not even translucent.. but greenish yellow.
did the ottomans use cosmo? or what? camel grease?
PS.. from what I can gather.. this will be the standard 8mm mauser and .323 bore correct?
