Default Many people in the U.S. feel that there is NO THREAT to their right to self defense!

I am constantly amazed. I write article after article pointing out actual threats, legislative mostly, to an individual's right to self defense and the right to keep and bear arms.

With each article, I get many responses that flatly deny that anyone or group is actually trying to remove the right to keep and bear arms or that there is anyone trying to remove the right to self defense.

Are these the same folks who deny that the holocaust happened? Are they the ones who deny that water is wet? Will they only accept the truth AFTER it is too late?

I know, I am preaching to a knowing group here...but darn it!

It's just like some parents who say, "What, my kid's on drugs, never. My kid's know better". It's called denial. It's a large part of the me generation. I want mine now, the faster, the better. This attitude generates the denial process, because there is a peneality to pay for getting something for nothing, or just getting it when you want it.

Lamentations Chapter 5:
1. Remember, O LORD, what is come upon us: consider, and behold our reproach.
2. Our inheritance is turned to strangers, our houses to aliens.
3. We are orphans and fatherless, our mothers [are] as widows.
5. Our necks [are] under persecution: we labour, [and] have no rest.
16. The crown is fallen [from] our head: woe unto us, that we have sinned!
21. Turn thou us unto thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old.

some people are like an ostrich, they just bury their head in the sand and hope the problem goes away. they don't have any reasoning about what is going on in the world. they are too wrapped up in their own. you can bet they will be the first to cry out when something near and dear to them is threatend. too late then.

A good percentage of the denyers are probably the gun owners that voted for Obama. Deep down a lot of them know they made a mistake, but they just don't want to admit it. And then some of the ones denying it are probably Kool-Aid drinkers worshipping at the Alter of Barry.

I just got this from a buddy and watched it. I think it fits well with your thread, Al. It's a great 6 minutes to think about. This guy apparently has been asked to go to the White House and meet with Barry Hussein Sotoro, "to discuss the disturbing nature of the videos."

This is America alhefner, that could never happen here. That kind of stuff happened in the ancient history. Ya know back when the Romans where at war with the Germans.

When is the baseball game on ? That's what's important.

I think most people would care more if they were able to listen to talk radio and could hear the actual truth about some of the issues that are out there in the socialist "puke" Main Stream Media. The problem is they don't get the chance To listen to conservative radio very much because the majority of it is on during the day. Example I can only listen if I am in a tractor I can't carry a radio along with me all day long doing my chores or other work I have to do on my farm. I just make the effort to stay informed.
Most people don't have the luxury of listening to the radio at work or if they do it's usually some type of music. Not much actual news there. They get their news from the socialists and all they hear is Rush or Jan Michelson or Steve Deace or any other example (Those are the one's I listen to here in Iowa) are Evil racists who are trying to tear down everyone and everything and are against "progress". Progress is in the eye of the beholder. The Socialists believe progress is Gay marriage, disarmament of the people, higher taxes, gov't takeover of private industry, Illegal(read not a Natural born citizen) friend of terrorists living in the White house etc. etc. etc. You all know what I'm talking about. But the Main stream Socialists don't ever try and look into any of those things so they twist, slant, lie, decieve, and look the other way all to push their agenda to tear apart and destroy the constitution in an attempt to ruin the greatest nation on the face of the earth. All they want to do is install a system of gov't that allows them to rule with us common citizens being just serfs that work to better and enrich the rulers all in a supposed scheme to make things FAIR. This has gone on over and over again in history but people are not taught that in schools anymore either. Text books that have more than a few pages on anything that happened before 100 years ago are far and few between. Most of the socialists look at world war 2 as the wrong way to take over countries. It was a learning expierence for them. War and conquest on the battle field didn't work. They are just trying a different tactic. They are doing it on two different fronts. First they are doing it through the courts, which the majority of Americans have been taught that what ever a court says is law. Constitutionaly that is incorrect. Nowhere in the constitution does it say unelected officials can make law. Secondly they are using innuendo and repetition of things over and over and over again to get you to think that it is no big deal. It's basically an indoctrination of people to get them to think what is right and moral is bad and what is immoral is good. Example Gay marriage, and abortion. The socialists think that once we are disarmed and dumbed down to the point where anything goes we will have a nirvana of sorts that will cause everbody to love everybody else and that there will never be anybody that is below anybody else and we will all live in harmony with nature.
That hasn't been proven to be the case in history. Every time a society has become Socially and mentally depraved in history that society has fallen. That is what our country will do to if the ship is not righted fast.

Sorry for the long rant I wrote a little farther than I meant to in the beginning stuff just kept coming. The socialist Marxist thugs just piss me off.

Apathy will destroy this once great nation.

Problem is, we've lost all sense of our American history.
I'm pretty much a Newb here, but I'm 50+ years old. Protecting freedom and the American way of life is part of my life. My generation will be the last to truly know and understand what made this country great.
My father was a member of the Navy, AirForce, and National Guard.
My stepdad got a purple heart in WWII.
One of my Uncles survived the Bataan Death March.
My son was 5 when my dad passed away, and he never knew my Uncle.
So now there is a disconnect in the family history from a personal stand.
History is taught in schools, but the meaning is left out of the lesson. It's pretty much been relegated to fairy tale status. It's more on a par with that of ancient Greece. It's lost its importance.
Like the guy in the video connotated; what once was a fine wine, has been diluted to the point of being plain ol tasteless, odorless water.

Usher in the 'I/Me/My' generation.

Goodbye to the 'do what's right' generation.

They call this head in the sand syndrome, Natural Selection.

Liberals of all ilk think the world should be the way they think it is or want it to be. Actually most of them do believe this.

That, in the face of insurmountable evidence to the contrary. Of course I can walk down a dark alley in Philly at 1am and feel safe as can be. I am a Liberal! This is right up their with these "Take back the Night" rallies where women from the local women's resource center gather in a large group at night, light candles and walk down the street en masse to prove that "We won't take it anymore." I replied to the last one I was asked to support, "You want to take back the night, buy a Kahr 9 Load it, practice and use it when needed."

Like I said, natural selection.

Of course these people do not feel like there rights are threatened. They do not own any guns to begin with. Outlaw guns and they are still in the same shoes. No change for them.

American Capitalism Gone With A Whimper

I can 'hear' the frustration in your post just as I feel it, alhefner. Sadly, and frighteningly, I think Stanislav Mishin has said it all in his article linked above.

I bought my soninlaw a nice 22 target pistol -ruger with bull barrell. He lilkes it alot His parents are very anti gun and they live in suburbs of a big city. when his mother saw it her only comment was " what can you do with that"
It was the best gift by far that he got (and the most expensive by far) and the only one he really liked. I said well its a very accurate target pistol and with practice you can become a real good shot. She had no comment but i could tell she did not like it one bit.
I have run into alot of anti-gun people and I have come to the conclusion that there is something wrong with them mentally. Most are from or very near a city urban/suburban environment. That alone can of course warp someones mind if they live there long enough. You can tell they are just not quite right.
