I realize this thread kinda died, but I just registered after doing web-search for "Blaser Rifle" and hitting this forum. Good boards!! Just to jump in, I shoot an older LRS in .308. I guess that makes it a LRS1 (?) Never used Black Hills, but I've shot a lot of FedGMM. In addition, there is a bulk reloader - Georgia Arms - who loads a "ultra-match" with 168gr Sierras - moly coated. That's what my rifle likes the best. My best 200 yd group is only slightly bigger than .308. I've also got a 3.5" inch group at 436 yds (Odd measurement, I know) Anyway - sounds like there is something to this moly coated business!

Kaylan , nightforce has nice parralex knob on the side by turrets and most have lighted recticle, good for low light or dark targets. Very sturdy and always has great reviews given to it, and more repeatable than leupolds.

I use a Luepold M3 - paralax adjustment is on the side and the .308 cam is right on for me. Scope it with the mil dots, tag it with a laser to confirm, dial in the range, hold dead on and "bang."
Did some interesting expiraments regarding temps and time of day shooting the other day. Interesting what differences the lighting and temp makes on group size at 200 yds. Also, I added a Anti Cant spirit level to the Leupold - that was a big help. The Springfields have them built in....oh well. |

"with up borke in weapons." This just means I'm a bad at typing. I went with a nightForce 5.5x22 NXS scope. My buddy went with the 8x32 scope. We both went with a break other than factory. It is supposed to be real quiet. The 10 days are up on Sat. This will be my firs t real rifle other than the .22 kid stuff. My buddy wanted to shoot comp with someone and talked me out of a new S&W 500 custom shop. He said handguns are fun but rifles are for real shooting. So now here I am.

Another 5 shot group - 200 yds - Federal GMM 168's. Hmm, can you say vertical stringing? (Diff elevation dope, ended up a bit low to POA.)

While STILL WAITING for my R93 LRS2 I've been scouring the web for any bit of info I could find. One concern is the use of moly coated bullets. Some say that moly will harm the the barrel and others swear by it, what is the deal. I'm just getting into precision shooting and these barrels cost too much to to mess with.
Thanks Ric PS You guys are making me drool cause you have your weapons |

Well - here's my 0.02 -
My older LRS really likes a certain brand of moly load, 'course they quit making it - damn. Starting with a clean barrel, it shoots great and very clean. That said, I don't mix moly and jacketed shooting without a cleaning between, I've been concerned about "layering" like what happens when you shoot lead a lot and back it up with jacketed to "help blow out the lead." I find that you end up with a leaded bore coated in copper. yuck! Not sure what a "moly'd bore coated in copper" would be like. I personally can't speak to reduced barrell life with moly, nor can I say it lengthens life - haven't burnt this one up yet!! |

using moly, I clean it with Butch's bore shine. push patches till its showing white patches white not grey.(USMC side effect) Then I use a very lite coat of moly prep. I use a nylon brush (works fine) I'm getting a M4 with a 30mm tube, paralax on the side 50mm objective etc.. etc... from a buddy of mine. gonna do some short range shootin (100-500yd) on Sat. Then long range (500-1250yd)
on Sunday. I'll post the results next week if I don't get rain and high winds. (rain is ok) ![]()

3/8 moa at 200?that's goooood shootin, I own a mcmillian, nice piece, tricked out, have a thunder trap on the end for silent work,we make a good 180 gr subsonic.34 dec 4" from muzzle, good to 100 yds.don't be fooled by the price of the ammo,we have alot of buying power,so we can pass the savings on. we don't like to rip off people, and I guess we could have given it a fancy name and box,but I'll match it to any thing out there now,and beat it hands down.
