I am looking to buy an r93 blaser with the .338 lapua barrel. I have done just about two weeks of searching online, and I have hit a dead end. Can anyone give me information on where to buy one that won’t take 5 to 9 months to get in. if anyone has any info I would greatly appreciate it.

Hey guys;

I am new to the forum and I can't believe I accidently or any other way found a forum about the LRS2 firearms.

I have had mine in the 223 and 22-250 for about 6 yrs and both have taken so many prairie dogs I can't count.
Last summer I took one with the 22-250 and my hand loads at 738 yds using the laser range finder.

It took threre shots to get him but the others were so close on him I could not tell where to correct. I just tried to compensate for what I thought the Wy wind was doing and as I said the third shot he was toast.

It is soooo good to find a site where others even know what I am talking about when I mention the R93 actions and the LRS2 forget it. I may as well be from outer space.

I don't know how to post pics as I am not computer literate but I have some einteresting pics of some groups shot by my sister-in-law lst summer at a neighboring towns BR shoot. This woman is 60 yrs old and never shot a BR round in her life. But she asked if she could enter and use my 223 barrel for the 5 shot 100 yd comp.

I let her and she placed second with a group of .178. Everyone including myself was blown away. But the bottom line is out of the box I believe the Blaser is the most accurate rifle I have ever shot and I have shot a lot of them in the past 55 years.
I own several re-worked 700 actions in 223, 22-250 and 257 Roberts and a couple of re-worked Ruger M77 in 223 and 22-250 and 257 Roberts and they are truly tac drivers but no comparison to the Blaser.

I hope someone is still watching this thread as it is great to know others have these superb firearms.

Thank you for the welcome and I hope others come out to play as this is fun to see how others are doing with their R93 actions.

My bad as I said my Sis had a .178 group it was not, it was .278 and I feel bad for the mistake but after seeing the group, I wish I had shot it.
I did not think the triggers could be set light enough to be really competitive but not so it appears with the groups we shoot and with what we do to prairie dogs out to 500 yards or more.
Three hundred to 350 yards is not too difficult with this gun even in the Wy wind.

The funny thing is I bought it just because I had a little extra cash one year and had not bought a new gun in several years so I thought I owed myself a new one. The price for both of my barrels was much less than the action with one barrrel is now so I am also very happy about that as well.

My only complaint is the price of new or replacement parts for the gun.
I have lost the little screw-in base bumper and one of my magazines has never functioned right so I have to feed single shot.
They do not give those things away and they want my second child even for the mag.
If anyone needs a scope mount, I have an extra and maybe we could work a trade.
Let me know as I also know scope mounts ain't cheap either. This one has never been mounted on a gun.

Probably a silly question, but just picked up a Blaser LRS2 new in box with all the goodies, 6.5 20x50 Leupold , Factory Break, Sling, all the goodies. I am having a problem with the rounds ejecting out of the rifle. Well the actuall problem is that they are not Ejecting every time, around 1 in 5 eject properly. Is there something I did wrong?

PS: It is a great straight shooter.

Clubb;

I am surprised no one has replied. However, I am so new to the R93 actions I have not had the experience to know what to tell you.
Except that I sent a letter to the factory people in the new building in Calif. and got an immediate reply.
I would call them if I were in your situation as this gun iis so precise I cannot imagine it having a problem that is not instantly and easily corrected.

Look them up on the web and send an email or call.

Good luck and if it not too much to ask, let us know the outcome.

Thanks for the tip, I took it out for the third time today and noticed that it seemed to operate better this time around. Im thinking that as it breaks in, the release breaks in as well. Also a little quarky but I shot much tighter groups with a semi-warm barrel over a cold bore. First round was 80 shots at 500 yards. Top 10 grouping was about the size of a half-dollar. Not bad for the third time out. Also if you pull the slide back quickly as apposed to slowly, the action works much better. This gun is a straight shooter for sure. I would be interested in going to the 300 winmag bolt and barrel but I can not seem to find anyone online who sells the parts.
Any Ideas anyone?

Darren

Oh yea, by the way, second round, 80 shots at 800Yards, alittle sloppy, 4 inch grouping was top 10 but there were 7mph wind gusts according to my kestrel and I was shooting moly-coat 168 grain black hills.

Have not been here for a while. I was trying to find 300 win mag barrel and bolt and ran across this thread. Glad to know folks are still piping in.

Took my 308 out last weekend shooting steel plates at 675 yards, once I got the wind doped hitting the plate was so predictable it almost got boring. Man I love this rifle.

For the guys having problems Blaser customer service is first rate. I am a big guy and I looked at the price of length of pull spacers and was floored, but the factory sent me a few, plus the pistol grip spacers gratis. I guess what I am saying if you are having a problem give them a call. We all know these rifles are not low priced, but it is nice to know the factory stands behind them.

Out shooting today with my 308 LRS2, Loaded up some Lapua 185g molly scenars and vit n550 with lapua brass and cci br to shoot at 200y, I gained exellent accuracy with load and oal seating Length was 2.855 in, also had some berger 185g molly VLDs with same components seated at same length accuracy was poor but i am putting this down to not being seated out enough to lands as the berger vld bullets are recomended to preform best when seated too or just off lands, Has anyone found a accurate load with their LRS2 rifle with either the berger VLDs or Lapua scenars-siearra seated too or just off lands? ifso could you post info with oal and loads thanks paul.

Guys, it is great to find so many satisfied LRS2 owners out there. I've had one in 6.5x55 for the last 7 years and it really shoots well. I've also had a 6mmBR barrel as well and it was also really accurate but the ammo is mad expensive here.

Until I read your posts I'd forgtten just how accurate this rifle is and how much fun I've had shooting it over the years.

I am going to change to 308 in the coming months and had been thinking about a SAKO TRG 22 as some of my friends have these and are getting very good results out to 1000.

However, now, having read all your comments, I'm thinking of just ordering a 308 barrel for the LRS2. The 6.5x55 with Lapua 139g Factory BTHP has given me very good results. Usually touching at 100 and on one occasion a group of 1.25 in at 600.

I shoot mostly out to 350yds and the 6.5x55 is good even with a strong wind blowing right accross the bog where I shoot. What can your 308 set-ups do with for example 168 Match at that distance say with no real wind issue ?

By the way any feedback on the TRG also appreciated !

Thanks for all the help.

Okay so I'm about to buy an LRS 2 and have a couple of questions I thought I should ask.

1) I'm getting a nightforce 3.5-15X50mm scope for it. They appear to offer aluminum and steel 30mm rings for the saddle mount. Is there any reason to choose one over the other in terms of performance? Or is it just a weight issue?

2) Do all the LRS-2 barrels come threaded for use with their muzzle brake?

I think it is just a weight issue.

I'm in Europe and all the barrels for the LRS2 are sold as standard without a thread. I had to get mine done by a Gunsmith and I had a T8 fitted. The smyth did a great job but I would advise to get it threaded from the factory if you can (or maybe in US they come that way but I doubt it)

I also use a Nightforce. I have the NSX 12-42 which is a fine piece of kit. You won't go wrong with any Nightforce scope.

Just a tip - be careful when you tighten the ring screws as these are for some reason very prone to lose the head if you overtighten. I had to cut one ring off the last time as I could not budge the screw. Same thing happened to a friend of mine and although we should have been more careful I understand it's a common problem with these rings.

Good shooting !

Any American owners know what the deal is about threaded barrels? The email I got back from Blaser said that their match barrels all come threaded with a thread saver, but the order sheet that a dealer emailed me has no place to specify anything but the caliber for an LRS-2. Is it the kind of thing they just tell them on the phone or is there an order code for it? I'd really prefer to have everything done by Blaser rather than shipping my barrel around the country for smithing.

What is the contact info for these folks? I have a original LRS. (Does that make it an LRS1?

Its in .308 with a Leupold 3x10.5 M1 with the BDC. Its a great shooter for me with 168gr molycoated Sierras at 2,300 fps.

I would like an additional mag or two and the parts to switch the bolt to left side.

Finally someone else with an original, I've never found anyone else that had one! I ordered a couple extra 10 round mags when I bought it, I've never seen any 10 round mags for sale. I'm not sure how many of these actually made it into production, mine is a 2 digit serial if I remember correctly under 50.
