Default Best Frame?

I'm done fiddling about with AKMs. I've had my fill of demilled kits. Time to move on.

I've been considering building a 1911. Can anyone steer me in the direction of a good frame? I'm thinking about a no-frills mil-spec for a first one. Any advice or links would be most appreciated!

As in anything else you get what you pay for. And there is a point of diminishing returns for the investment made.

I suggest looking through the Brownells catalog (they have a 1911 specific catgalog!) then contacting their TECH people and get a recommendation from them. Their TECH people are typically gunsmiths who know which of their products are the best choice.

I've a .45 acp on Caspian frame and slide (with rails). Been very happy with it.
